Anyone going through the Kaiser Fremont Program?

Recommended Posts

I have an appt set (the 3 hr one) with the Surgeon, Nutritionist and Coordinator. I was wondering what the process is after that? I know that they give you a set amount of weight to lose, but if I lost the weight pretty quick, is there still a lot to do? Trying to gauge a timeline being a mommy and all.

Thanks!

I just finished the 12 week Kaiser program. I'm in Los Angeles. Why is it your 3 meeting with the surgeon?

Yes going to Fremont ca
They don't require 12 classes
Only orientation then meet the doc...
Doc sets a pre op goal weight then psychological evaluation.

I do on April 14th. I was told they use your highest recorded weight in the past year as your starting weight. So technically I've lost 9 lbs. (Recorded within 3 weeks ago), but I have no clue what weight loss goals they'll give me. I'm 319.5 lbs.

I chose Dr. Hahn. Did you already have your sleeve done?

I have not & I'm just starting the process .. I've been talking w people who are also in same process w kaiser ...this nice guy in Fremont office gave me the whole low down on how it works there . I'm going to orientation tomorrow morning & have been tryin to work on losing at least 5% weight .. I'll see how it goes .. I want to choose dr Hann or Dutta .. I hear good things about them .

With Fremont Kaiser the only requirements are to hit your surgery goal weight and do a psych eval. The quicker you lose the weight the quicker you can get the surgery. Process is pretty straight forward. And they do use your highest recorded weight so you are 9lbs closer to your goal!

Before you can scheduke your psych eval you wilm need to be within 5lbs of your goal weight, do a short super easy quiz and attend one support group meeting. The Fremont Support group is great. This month they will be meeting on the 14th and the 28th from 6pm-8pm. There are also other groups in other towns if you can't make the Fremont one.

Yeah I will be at both meetings. It's a pretty big group with a lot of great people. I have learned so much and you can ask any questions you have there.

The program itself is very doable and the time until surgery is highly dependant on how long it takes you to lose the weight. I just happen to catch the program at the wrong time when they were short handed. I'm glad to hear that they are staffed up and everything is moving along again.

I do hope I get to meet you there .. you've been so helpful to me.
I'm thinking about staying for the group if I'm not all talked out & tired by then & providing my babysitter will stay later as well.

If you are there i would love to meet you. I wasn't so sure about going to a support group at first but it's honestly been so helpful and I have met so many great people who are all going through what we are so you always have someone to talk to.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
