Hi All,

I'm new to the board but over the last fortnight you have provided a wealth of information and support to every other person who has posted. I'm looking forward to being able to support people in the same manner.

Well on to me, I've got my first appointment to discuss the lap band on Thursday and to be honest I'm literally packing myself. I have a history of severe depression and undiagnosed anxiety and the idea of seeing a new doctor and them touching me is a bit overwhelming. I know they are trained to put you at ease but I'm still nervous. I know what you are all thinking that with those psychiatric illnesses that things may be slow going and that Im going to have to be patient but I already have a letter for my surgeon from my psychiatrist saying that everything is fine as she is concerned. All I really have to do is stay calm, and not act like I'm MAD even if I am, LOL!!!

I'm also hoping to hear if anyone has been on Lithium during the whole process. My psychiatrist is saying that i'll be fine to stay on it but she is not the one taking it. I want to know if anyone had to have any med adjustments or got toxic whilst they were losing weight.

Well thank you all for listening, I know this is long but even writing it down and knowing someone will read it is therapeutic.

Cheers

Car

Just wanted to write and say....you are going to do good at this! God is going to take care of you and I pray He gives you a peace about the surgery. I know He will be with us all.

I too have major depression and I have Bipolar. I am doing well on these meds and my psychiatrist said take them they night before surgery and I shouldn't have any complications. My psychiatrist first recommended this surgery as I have gained 120 lbs in 4 years due to psych meds and increased appetite.

Trust in Him in all things!

I am praying for us all.....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
