Hello everyone. I am from Wisconsin and have decieded I really need to do something now. I travel for work and things over the last few months have been getting harder (gained more weight) to travel. I am insulin resistant and am sick of taking the meds and dealing with the side effects from them.

I know I am a beautiful person the way I am however I keep hearing Oprah's words in my head that she wished she would not have wasted the years being plus size. Plus my sister's closet needs to be raided because she has toooooooo many closes (she got the skinny gene).

Look forward to getting to know all of you.

Welcome sunee2day2 (love that name)

Welcome to the start of a journey that will change your life, and your sister's closet by the sounds of things :(

I am just begining my journey, but fortunately, here in Australia we don't have the insurance problems that our friends in Canada and the USA do.

You will find a heap of information here about lap banding and plenty of people who are willing to listen and help when needed.

Keep up that positive attitude and one day soon you won't be raiding your sisters closet she will be trying to raid yours.:)

Hi' I'm from WI and going to be banded Oct. 9th in Mexico. I know it's the right thing to do but like I've been saying I'm paying on my own which is going to be very difficult. So should I get over it and take the risk or surrender to the FAT? I also know what you mean about meds, I have fibromyalgia really bad and am hoping this will relieve some stress on the body.

Welcome  I'm in WI too. What surgeon are you looking into? If you're anywhere near Green Bay I HIGHLY reccommend Dr. James Kemmerling. He did my band and my DH's band. We couldn't be happier with the pre and post-op care given. He is REALLY dedicated to seeing us reach a healthy weight...not just in making a buck!

Anyway, welcome to the forum

I see that you are from WI!! I live in Green Bay and had the Lap Band put in by Dr. Kemmerling on 12/21/07... I am sooo glad that there are others who HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kemmerling. I have nothing but good things to say about him!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
