Has/Is anyone planning on having a real last meal during the last of the your liver shrink diet? I can't do it on the last day obviously, because I will be on Clear Liquids, but I was thinking of doing it the day before. Is it better or worse to do it sooner rather than later like close to surgery? Thoughts?

Why do you want to do this? Do you trust your surgical team? Have they explained whether or not it is ok? Your post op success happens in your mind. Why not use this as an opportunity to practice being compliant so that you are developing the necessary skills for successful weight loss?

I was instructed to have a light Breakfast and light lunch then clear liquids until midnight along with a laxative. That last lunch I had 1slice turkey n 1slice cheese with real mayo on a whole grain sandwich flat, with a side of dill pickles. It was symbolic for me because one of the first memories I had of loving food a little too much was when my mom made me a turkey sandwich with tons of mayo on a big roll with tons of chips on the side. That was how I would usually eat but I toned it down for that last meal and was so satisfied. I think you need to say goodbye in some way if you are an addict, just dont sabotage yourself that you end up sick during or after surgery. P.S. I was fine during and after surgery, and was never instructed to do a preop diet, I did it on my own as a challenge.

I went ahead and splurged on a last real meal on Thursday of last week. I don't regret it one bit. I know I have self control and I have been very tested throughout this process. But it was a nice reward for sure. I go in for surgery Wednesday morning. The nerves are starting to get to me.

My surgery was on the 27th. I had two Dungeness crab clusters but I wasn't on an all liquid diet so it was allowed. It was totally worth it. Post-op, I asked my doctor how did my liver look and he said it was normal. No regrets. I was determined my last meal would be something I'd enjoy. Since seafood is my favorite, the crabs were worth it and to no ill effect.

Hey there! You are a couple of weeks ahead of me. Are you in Memphjs also? I've got Dr Wegman. Looks like you are doing great and I plan to do something similar to you in terms of last meal :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
