This is a good question. My surgeon never mentioned a drain. I will speak to him about it on the 28th

I'm currently in hospital. Had surgery today and didn't get a drain bag. I asked my nurse just an hour ago and she just said not everyone gets it, but didn't give explanation. I'll ask my surgeon tomorrow. One unexpected thing I didn't think I would have is pain from breathing. When my chest cavity expands, it causes pain. They say it's normal so I continue walking to try to get air out.

Also, very much cotton mouth after surgery. They didn't let me drink any Water until 4hrs after surgery was complete. Once I was allowed water, I was only allowed to take sips of one ounce every 15 minutes.

Do all sleevers get these ??

The drain is more for the bypass surgery and not the sleeve. The bypass has a lit more going in inside. Very few sleevers will need a drain tube and I did not wake up with one!! Good luck!

What happen if you don't mind sharing

Oh no sure don't! Well I had the sleeve done on Friday 12/09/16. But after getting to my hospital room I could never hold down any liquids...I would have 15ml and 15ml would come right back up! It took them 3 days to diagnose that my stomach had twisted....closed! So I had 2 more surgeries and had a stent put in on 12/14 to untwist and open up my stomach. I spent 6 nights in the hospital!! I had surgery again this week on Feb 14th to remove the stent and hallelujah my stomach remained open!! But boy I have been through it. Around Feb 1st the stent wanted to come out so I had a constant bad stomach ache 24/7 and dry heaving 5 to 6 times a day! But all that stopped the moment the stent came out! I have lost 70 lbs during this journey so far!!! I worry for those going out of the country to have surgery as I wonder if they had this same complication and needed to have multiple surgeries and a week hospitalized what would they do? How would someone pay for that let's say in Mexico? It was so scary for me and I was in California with insurance that was paying 100% of these bills!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
