T minus 24 hours and counting!

Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 8:00 am (24 hours from now!) I don't know what anyone else's day before surgery looks like, but this is mine:

Protein sake at 7:30 and 10:30

I can't have anything but Clear liquids from lunchtime today until midnight... but NO solid food is allowed today so I will have my last shake at 12:00-12:30 this afternoon.

After I shower normally tonight, I then have to shower with a special soap, which involves turning off the Water and rubbing the soap all over me for 5 minutes before I rinse, after which, no lotions, powders, deodorants, perfumes, etc.

I have to get up at 4 am and do the shower thing a second time.

I have to leave for the hospital at 5 am and check in at 6 am.

Does anyone else have special "day before" instructions?

My surgery was 1/17/17, and i could only do Clear Liquids the entire day before, not Protein drinks. It was a tough day! I had to do the special shower also. When I got to the hospital, they made me wash my stomach with the same stuff again!

We'll probably be in surgery about the same time. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 5:30 tomorrow but they pushed it back a bit for some reason, so surgery time will likely be around 8:30 a.m. now.

Today is nothing but liquids. Never thought I'd miss a Protein shake so damned bad...lol. Stopped and got myself some Powerade Zero this morning to have something different to drink for the day. I've had to do a clear liquid diet before so I'm not completely unused to it. Doesn't mean I enjoy it, though!

They gave me a soap to wash up with but only instructed me to use it the morning of. Same thing, though - lather up really good and scrub the area well. I'll probably do the same as you and take a shower tonight and another one in the morning.

I was only allowed clear liquids the day before and NOTHING after midnight the night before. That was actually really tough because I couldn't sleep at all, since I was so anxious and I wasn't even allowed Water for the entire 6-ish hours I was tossing and turning before heading to the clinic.

So glad there are two others on this topic going in tomorrow. I need to report to the hospital at 10 am. I'm jealous of the others who report earlier. I was allowed to have a light Breakfast and a light lunch today (just had Protein shakes) and then only Clear Liquids until midnight. After that - I'm cut off. Definitely do-able to not drink or eat when I wake up tomorrow but when you are denied, that's when you want it more. Interesting how different surgery instructions can be, both pre-and post-op.

Good luck to Orion and Green-eyed wolf (glad you were able to work things out). Speedy recovery!!

I had to have three shakes a day for 2 weeks (I actually did 18 days, starting early).

At the time I thought it was very difficultbut it did prepare me for post op !!

Good luck for tomorrow :D

Wish everyone the best for tomorrow. I know sleeping is going to be tough tonight. Hoping it won't be too bad.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
