You can arrange direct through the surgeon, which works out cheaper as includes hotel and taxis

Hi Garry, OMG! That is fabulous news, well done!!! You must be feeling amazing. I am trying to icture what you must now look like. I really hope that our group gets to mee up again one day as it will be great to see the change in everyone.

I have a much slower loss than you, but it is coming off slowly but surely.

What are you eating now? are you still on Protein Shakes only?

I have just had my 3rd fill on Thursday taking me to 6 mils and I am hoping to hit the 3st mark at the end of this week. I really wanna speed my loss up so that we can get our IVF referral before crimbo so any looking for tips please lovely bandsters!

Also I have noticed that I am losing more hair now when I wash/brush it. What Vitamins do you guys take?

Thanks & Take care

Chrissie x

I went with bridget at europesurgery and it was just as cheap. i don't think it matters who you book though. The main thing is that chris is a good surgeon and you are getting it at a cheap price:smile2:

hello, you say your going at the end of august! thats when i am going too, maybe we will meet!

my sister has already had the band fitted and has the fills . i went with her it does not hurt, its just an injection but i don't think its a painful injection just an injection.

I am looking forward to my new life ...can't wait to have it done

yes i have heard the injections arn't too bad. lets face it its all worth it, to lose the weight there is no way that i could do this on my own. I have been trying to years to lose weight and its just not coming off. been on loads of diets you name them i been there!

in some ways the injections are a good thing i chance to meet the surgeon again and get an update on the diet. someone told me they had managed to lose 2 stone in the first 2 months ...thats what i want to do just start to shift the weight.

i know what you mean about injections, i find blood tests the worst! i guess once you have started havng the injections you are already over the worst bit. you have had the band fitted and on your way. i don't suppose you have to have that many of them, its just a matter of griting your teeth and getting on with it. There is no way i can do this without the band its just too hard, i been trying for years

Yuk, just experienced a horrific bout of productive burping - not pleasant. Had my fill done 4 days ago and this morning thought I would try a little scrambled egg - not a good idea - after 3/4 mouthfuls I was in pain and over the last 30 minutes have been bringing it back up

What causes it, I chewed properly and ate really slowly and it was soft foods, not having egg again for a while. Also its not just the food that comes back up its accompanied by a thick gloopy saliva - again why is that?

Anyone know how long this will last - gonna stick to liquids again today to give my stomach a rest again just in case.

Kerry xx

how you doing that sounds horriable...I guess the first few days will be the worest and then you will start to feel better. it must settle down over the next few weeks.

Ahh thanx Slinky, you are a sweetheart, but I've still got to lose another 2 stone to be at a comfy weight.

My stockings were white hun, but I was banded in the Bupa Southampton, so not sure about Dr Chris's.

Someone will confirm for you I'm sure. You could always buy your own if you're worried, cos they're only flight socks.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
