:cursing: Morning Guys

Feeling much better today but still cant get rid of the excess gas - aarrggh - gonna try the cross trainer later for a bit to see if that helps.

Still got heavy feeling mid-chest but guess that must just be me getting used to my new mini-stomach - gonna try some Soup at lunchtime and a crisp bake and see how it goes

Paul - progressing to baby food - you must feel so grown up lol - enjoy

Susan - glad you ok and back to work (ha ha) I'm off till Monday and enjoying the peace and quiet. Brian is exercising like a nutcase to try and get the extra pounds back off that he gained in Brussels

well I wish I was feeling like a spring chicken but I have to say I am not yet :-(

still sore and find it awkward to walk too far. I am hoping I am just one of those

slow healers. Been to buy some fresh veg this morning ready for tomorrow when I

can start solids. Had a trial run at lunch today with half a carton of broth ( yum yum)

and half a tin of low fat custard and now i am I think full as an egg!

Reckon that's more than I really can manage at the moment. And by heavens have I

got some Serious bruising and the mother of all on myport side but well away from it

which I can't imagine how it got there. I hope I start to feel less immobile soon.

Off to the doc tomorrow pm for my stitchs out !!

Feeling a little disgruntled today with the pain still lurking:-( Paul

Paul - You are suffering, I don't have much bruising, only where the vampire had been. Bit worried I can have a full tin of Soup though, do feel full afterwards.

I have a 4 course dinner coming up on Friday, hopefully one of those courses is soup, may try and mush some of the food or give it over to my better half.

Talking about better halves - Kerry, poor Ray couldn't fit into his best trousers or a shirt we bought him so it just goes to show what a weekend of food and drink does for you. I don't think he has ever had to diet in his life - he does now!

Feeling good and walking OK, thank goodness Friday is nearly here.

Hi mate, me too, with the throat thing, and also at night I start coughing, so I'm going for a tiny bit out week next Fri on the 26th 11.30 Newport, just so that I'm a bit more comfortable, I'm mainly still on liquids since my last fill. I'm loosing weight (7lb) in 2 weeks, but I'm off to France for Easter and need to be able to socialise and to eat some solid foods. Hope your throat gets better.

Hi Mmm I will be at the clinic in Newport on 26th at 11.20 am hopefully sipping Water, will say hello, it will be nice to see someone in person lol....

Hi everyone so good to see and hear about the newly banded this has given me the push i needed was supposed to go for op 26 march but had major panic and frightened myself out of going ahead (really stupid) but im back on track and raring to go rearranged date for 4 may (to be confirmed yet) so would love to hear from anyone being banded at this time.

How many days do you need to have the post op injection for?

I am seeing the nurse at my GP to arrange for her to do this for me.

Thanks Sussie.

Hi Sussie

Sorry to hear you got panicked and re-arranged for May - you really have nothing to worry about - honestly - the only thing I would say is we have all gone through the same feelings and emotions that you are struggling with just now and we have all come out smiling on the other side - you will be absolutely fine

The injections must be done for 5 days post-op and honestly they are pain free - I managed to do mine myself and I am sure you would manage this too - you don't feel it going in and a slight nip on way out - pricking your finger with a pin feels worse.

I keep thinking this time last week I was on a trolley waiting to be rolled into surgery and here I am now feeling fab and more positive about my life than I have in years.

Strangely I have spent the week cooking - curries, casseroles, baking etc - and have really enjoyed it cos I know I'm not gonna be eating it (no my cooking is not that bad) - just feel under no pressure now to eat so have really enjoyed cooking for Brian and the kids - weird!!!

If you need to know anything then please get in touch

All the best

Kerry

Hi sussie, you have done the right thing. Like Scooby and others we are now a week out and feeling good.

Feeling very good today, swelling is now going down on my port still a little tender but nothing major.

I agree with Scooby you can do the injections yourself, the needle is very fine, or get someone else to do it.

I have booked my first fill, 8th April, 4 weeks out of op, a little early but they said it would be OK. Is or has anyone been to Manchester for their fill, was it easy to find?

Looking forward to mushy's... Paul what are you planning on having?

Have a good weekend all.... Susan

Susan,

I went for my first fill in manchester 3 weeks and 6 days post op. Frederik said this was fine but because of the scar tissue that was still a bit swollen he had to prod and poke around a bit to locate the top of the port which was quite uncomfortable. That was just over a week ago and I feel no restriction at all, I'm probably eating more than I did before the fill!! I know I've got two or three more to go before I feel any real restriction so I'm hopefully going for my next fill same day as you (finances allowing).

Manchester is really easy to find, right next to the airport. If you have a satnav it's even easier putting the postcode in. What time are you booked in for?

So, one week today it will all be over, my op will be done and dusted and my new journey beginning.

I gotta whole mix of emotions going on right now, nerves are proper building and pre op diet isn't quite going to plan. Gonna make a real effort over the weekend to just have my Cambridge shakes and a load of Water.< /p>

Bandsters, is your recovery time longer the bigger you are? I've got about 110lbs to lose, and I am so worried about post op pain and mobility after seeing Paul's updates. I'm obviously trying to think of all the positives once I'm healed and the weight is coming off but I'm scared right now,

I'm sure I will be fine and I'm probably getting in a state for nothing, just want the nest few days to pass quickly and get out there.

Well done on your loss so far Paul and hope you Kerry & Susan feel loads better v soon.

Thanks for all the encouragement and reading your posts has help with my concerns. I saw my GP nurse today who was wonderful she assured me if i could'nt do the injections herself or the district nurses would do them for me, she even got one out to show me how fine the needle is so feel a lot better even if still not convinced i could do it. Sent deposit today so like it or lump it its going to be done. Looking forward now to beginning my new slimmer life :frown:

Hi honey, I am sorry if you are feeling a little uncertain with the reports Ihave been updating, the good news

is that I am actually starting to feel much better now and the pain is a man thing, apparently we do heal slower

than ladies because ur made to have babies and we aren't. Anyway ten days post op and it's all smiles now nearly

went to see my gp yesterday to get stitches removed and let him have a look and he was quite happy with what he saw.

And now I am 12 lbs lighter in 11 days nearly at my first stone inside 2 weeks! Am so excited! Keep your faith ok? Paul

I'm sure I will be fine and I'm probably getting in a state for nothing, just want the nest few days to pass quickly and get out there.

Hi Fatty Patty

Like you I have over 100 lbs to lose and my recovery has been excellent - day after operation I was able to drink unlimited fluids. Flight home was a bit uncomfortable mainly due to the gas pains and to be honest they are the only thing that has caused me any discomfort.

I have been off work all week but to be honest could easily have gone back to work as not been in any real pain - even my wound sites and port are fine - I have even managed to sleep on my tummy which has amazed me

I am sure you will be absolutely fine and nothing to worry about

Best Wishes

Kerry

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
