Hiya,

Clara, Michelle, Anitahugs and all those that were banded same time as me on 07/07/09.

Clara, Ive bought two tons of those dutch crispbakes so far - the whole family have been eating them. It's like diet central here. Hubby is doing some sort of low carb diet and making up his own concoctions, daughter is 6 weeks post caesarian and off to the gym and has a craving for fish pie! Me I've only had 2 bowls of Soup so far, bored with that. I'm liking the crispbakes with Primula cheese (all flavours) and yogurts and probiotic yogurt drink/Jelly.

Ive lost 18lbs now so far, since the pre op diet.

As for my dressings - I took em all off after 5 days to air the skin and they have healed greatly. I also trimmed the stitches at the same time. The "real" stitch is still undercover as it kept getting caught in my clothes but all the same drying up nicely.

I am still Laughing over Michelle's face when she came out from the xray room with the taste of the yummy xray drink emblazoned on her face! Gawd knows how Anitahugs and I didnt split our stitches then and there!

Not much more to report except ive tried weetabix and ready brek, although ive left it to swell in the milk before even attempting to eat it. But went down ok.

Signing off for now

Good luck Flirty with the op.

Lisa

Michelle,

Make sure you're not eating lumpy stuff too quickly, Dr Chris did say that it may cause problems with your band if you try to eat solids too quickly. I am still on liquids, Soups, yogurts, jelly and the dutch crispbakes with cream cheese on top, ready brek and weetabix(well soaked in milk). For a treat Ive had some of my mum's homemade blackcurrant jelly on the crispbakes. But iam not risking anything yet. Saturday I will start on mushy stuff. But quite happy with what i'm eating so far.

Michelle, Dr Chris says he wouldnt do any band fills until youre 6 weeks post op and that is after an initial 4 week check up.

I have been phoning round to weigh up the costings of in fills. Whilst WLS looks good, I have to add up the cost of travelling to London as well. Our local Spire Hospital here in Portsmouth do the aftercare packages for £100 each fill. So I'm gonna have to think about what i'm going to do.

Time for bed

Take care all

xxx Lisa  xxx

Hi Clara,Lischa,Michelle

How's it goin ? ur all being very good compared to me. I made veggie Soup Friday after I returned home, then Saturday had mashed potato and gravy and it's progressed from there. I'm eating normal foods just a smaller portion. (I'm hungry and felt really sick on liquids only) I was full of wind continually burping, food took the nausea away.

Like lisa I took dressings off as my skin started to blister round sticky part, I trimmed stitches day 5, and took blue one out last night as it was really annoying me,it was fine. I put steri strip in the corner of one that was gapie.I think they're pretty neat.

Like others have mentioned previously my port side (Gees I sound like a boat) is not sore but bulging, protruding, uncomfortable. I hope this settles as at present I have to hold it with 2 fingers when sitting.

Has anyone used Bio Oil for scars ? I went to chemist today they said once incisions are completely healed can start using it daily to fade scars. So I can wear bikini next year on hols ...lol

Congrats Lischa on ur lose, long may it continue. must get good set of scales as mine r very if dodgy u can add r take away a couple off pounds if u move them round the room.

ps. I've thought many times about Michelle coming out after that vile xray drink still brings a smile to my face.It really was priceless Michelle, but very Bl**dy sore at the time !!!

How was the journey home clara?

speak soon

x

Hi Homecare, thanks re the footy looking forward to it but just hope this stitch doesnt play up??:)

it was bothering me the other day but yesterday and today nothing thankfully,it was probably due to me trying on new shoes/boots and clothes the day it started up so it must be down to all the twisitng and bending and the muscle not being fully healed yet.

i am mainly sticking to my veggy Soup, porridge, crispbreads, scrambled egg, yogurts, puddings, jellys but i did have a lovely chicken curry with boiled rice on sat as a treat(small portion) and it went down ok,also had tatties & mince which was fine so tonight i have some smoked haddock & veg to try.......will let u know how i get on!

Hi TIN Im doin ok I think Ive lost another 4lb this week but will not record it until friday. I still cant eat anything solid as I feel a burning sensation and then pain, I dont know what this is. I ate a tiny piece of sliced turkey and it was agony so I definately would not try a chicken breast or a slice of fish. Every single thing has to be mashed and eaten very slowly, I dont understand this as its 3 weeks since op but I know I couldn't eat anything solid just yet. I have noticed some of the people who have been banded after me are able to eat solid food and not mushies. Cant understand this band but not complaining as weight is going down and feel quite contented after a small amount of food even though Ive had no fills yet? Any ideas from you guys out there would be appreciated. Jx:sneaky:

Hi HomeCare,

Have you tried things like scrambled egg of fish pie?

Maybe your not chewing your food enough as i found if i don't chew completely to mush it really hurts!!!

For those who have just been banded this month, i really would recommend Dr Chris's instructions about the time to stay on liquids and mushies! It is really dangerous to go straight to solid food straight away and can even cause major internal damage as you will not have healed fully inside!! I know its horrible but is necessary for your wellbeing!!!

Hi Gary

Second fill is great all i had today is a glass of smoothie 2 yoghurts and a tin of Soup and i have been satisfied with that! Does gurgle a bit if i drink to quickly but other than that all is fine! how's you?

Hi odge hope you find your fill beneficial this time. I am not due one until the 11th of August. I know what your saying about chewing your food but its really weird. I can eat fish pie but not scrambled egg it doesnt matter how much I chew it, I tried again this morning and pbd it, horrible. I thought after 21 days I would be able to eat some sort of solid food but definately not. Like I said earlier I was dying to try some cold meat and ate a small piece ie. 1/2 inch of sliced turkey breast and it was agony I also chewed this to mush but no avail. I can have cottage or fish pie if eaten very slowly. Jx:huh2:

That does seem weird! Is your appointment with Wendy on the 11th? Mine is at 10:45 with her in Glasgow so if its around the same time maybe we could go for a coffee? Wonder if Bobo and Gary would join as well!

I have heard that some people always struggle with egg so maybe your one of them! i've been quite lucky and not struggled with anything really only if i don't chew it then it really hurts! at least you can eat fish pie and cottage pie!

Have you tried really soft veg or soft rice with lots of sauce?

As long as your taking your Vitamins that should be ok maybe your just healing a little slower than most! Everyone is different. It has only been 21 days.

Try speaking to Wendy about it at your next fill!

Chin up babe

Jo xx

:) i used bio oil as soon as incisions were healed.i have used it twice a day since..dunno if it has made any difference but scars are nice, flat and fading..i dunno, maybe they would be anyway, but it doesnt hurt to try it..i also exposed my belly (while no one was looking...i hope?!) while i was sat outside in the sun(on that one rare day last week!)..that seemed to help blend them in too..put some sun lotion on tho, cos its new skin x

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
