Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Hi Sue I was at 5.75ml until Tuesday when Wendy put in a further 0.75 taking me to 6.5. I am still on liquids but the difference is tremendous. I did find I had heartburn on the first night after fill, last night I had reflux problems and slept sitting up but today it seems to have calmed down a lot. I bought gaviscon and it helped slightly but it was a shock as I have never had heartburn or acid relflux in my life before and I was feeling pretty miserable.

As I have said its calmed down a lot today and hopefully as GAry says it will slacken off slightly in around two weeks. jx

Hi homecare you are at exactly the same level and symptoms as me if the reflux continues at night try omeprazole from doctors, but really if it does'nt settle the tightness can cause a band slip' I've had a real fright, and even 1 month after an emergency unfil my gullet showed signs of distress under x ray. It is not worth the risk, I did'nt even lose a lot of weight, and could have been faced with a huge financial bill for corrective surgery and risk having my band removed permanatly. Be careful listen to you body and good luck I really hope it will settle down for you.

gotta say come on mmm ur just getting folk to worry?

when i was going over to belgium you told me because i was taking zantac they might not operate!!

i asked Dr chris and he was like in a scottish thing"whit the fuk you on a boot" so what u saying now?

trying to get homecare to worry too?

stop putting your crap on here to make people worried its not correct....plus what is ur objective?

homecare hope you read this as this person is full o it imo!

I appreciate the advice mmm and I will keep an eye on it. Its not really too bad at night but I did have it only once last night so it is calming down. If it continues I would defo see someone but for now its not causing too much distress or discomfort. thanks Jx

Thanks for your advice.

I am hoping that Chris does find it . However, it doesn't feel like it used too as I could feel my port and now it seems it is much deeper set.

I could understand it if I had done any exercise, but apart from walking I have not done any, so it seems very strange. I gather the port is sawn in to the stomach.

Baarbs,

Thanks for that, I thought as much. I suppose it's better to be safe, could have done with a few drinks to settle the nerves I'll no doubt have though!! And by the way, WOW!! You've done so well already, well done. Pre-op diet starts tomorrow, can't wait :)

Hi, If there are other people in the hotel having the same you will all chum up I expect, You won't have much time to get nervous as by the time you check in and get sorted go in to have your dinner then Frederick arrives and you all go into a meeting room for the low down on the op etc then hand over the Euros it won't be long till bed time as you will have to be at the hospital to register at 7am. Take a couple of mags with you and maybe a DS that will keep you occupied.

Don't forget to take a mug with you for your hotel room as they have those awfull plastic things. A couple of cup of Soups and 4 yogurt drinks and a couple of low sugar juice drinks. Wear loose waisted trousers as sitting down traveling you won't want the waist band sticking into you.

Thanks for the compliment but to be honest apart from the first week I haven't got any restriction so I am just being carefull and watching what I eat, I don't have my first fill till 26th Feb. Dieting isn't too bad it is keeping off the weight I struggle with.:bored:

TIMEISNOW I find your last post most offensive, I glad that homecare has thanked me for my concern, I am only speaking from experience, and to help anyone else getting into a health problem.

I have been to my own GP today to talk it through with him, he has put my mind at rest I think.

Had email from Dr Chris too saying available for 2nd march -oh my god - now that it all seems to be going ahead my stomach is in knots.

Your notes have been great and I am sure I will be absolutely fine - born worrier - just cant help.it.

How long will I be off work for - need to book holidays.

Does anyone know if direct flights to BRU from Edinburgh

I can feel my hands shake as I type this - mixture of excitement and sheer terror I think

Thanks Kerry (Scooby Doo):)

Good for you scooby doo, I can only speak from experience, and of course it all depends on the type of work you do, but I was driving a few days post op, worked for a few hours - administrative - within 4 days and resumed full time (transport manager - own company) in 1 week, someone younger (i'm 53) might be able to resume earlier, but i needed the full week.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I know I have made the right decision but my stomach is in knots worrying about it.

Having read all the positive notes on here it has boosted my confidence. Doesn't stop that underlying worry of "What If"

K :)

hi Scooby, normally I don't panic about very much, but maybe panic is not the right phrase for what I am feeling inside, just excitement to know that I can start again and be what I really want to be. It's easy brushing off the Big Guy syndrome, but it does get to me inside regardless of the hardened exterior ! Good luck to you too.

hello to all old members and also hello to newbies.

Nice to see some of the old faces, we were such a close bunch and now we dont seem to get on here much.

I will have to go for another fill with freddyboy cos I am still the same weight as I was when i went to Australia, and had a fill in December. he said I'd probably need another, and i do, damn it another 90 quid.

At least i havent gained any over Xmas, but I do need to get another couple of stone off. Its almost a year since I got the second band fitted and it does work, so glad.

Take care everyone and good luck to the people going for their op soon, you'll be fine.

I'm a bit annoyed at myself for being sucked into the "last supper" syndrome. I've eaten quite badly for the last week or so, and today is my last day before my pre-op diet starts. I've eaten anything and everything, followed by nearly two bottles of wine and some chocolates.

I've now started to worry that the band isn't for me, I understand willpower and resolve is involved, but I don't seem to have any of either!!

I've read so many success stories, I'm terrified that I will be the one to fail in a big way.

Surely none of us would have got big in the first place if we had enough willpower?

I'm hoping someone can re-assure me here, but I won't be surprised if no-one can. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
