Just a quick question - the past 2 nights I have been getting a pain in my left shoulder. Is that likely to be the gas (11 days post op)? Does it feel like cramp? Thought I had got away with it!:huh2:

Hi All

Here is a wee helping hand to calculating how many calories you should eat to loose the amount of pound per week that you would like. I found this (once i got my head round it) invaluable in understanding weight loss. One you have you BMR (basic metabolic rate) this is the ammount of calories you need to eat in a day to stay the weight you are, if you want to loose 1 pound per week then you need to be 500 calories less per day over 7 days to loose this. You will need a calculator to do this, give it a bash its helpful. I will go through mine so you can see the calculation and hopefully understand.

Women and men have different calcultaions so be sure to read calculation formulas below, so here goes

I weigh 24 stone 5 that is 341 pounds

My height is 5ft 11 which is 71 inches

My age is 36

Calc 1= 4.35X (weight) 341=2124.43

Calc2= 12.7x (height) 71=901.70

Calc3= 6.8x 36 =244.80

66+2124.43+901.70-244.8=2847.33.

My BMR is 2847 whic means if i eat 2847 calories per day for a week i will stick at the same weight whereas if i eat only1847 every day for a week i will loose 2 pounds that week. Now if i ate 1847 every day and done a good hard hour of cardio excecise then that would add an extra 1000 calories per day therefore i would loos 4 pound that week.

I know this is confusing but it really helps when you know and you guys that are light compared to me will realise that you will either have to eat very little or do loads of excercise to loose that meesley pound per week.

If any of you are interested and are confused then PM me and i will help.

Gx

English BMR Formula

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )

Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )

Hi Gary, been trying to work out my BMR using your calculations and ended up with a figure of 882!! Can this possibly be right? If so, I think I'll have to live off "fresh air" if I want to lose any more weight!!!:huh2::) Kath.

Hi everyone,

I've got a few questions for all you pros!

How many days after op can you:

*Stop wearing the stockings?

*Stop wearing dressings?

*Start eating mashed food?

*Normal food?

So far I have been eating Soup, semolina, and chocolate pudding (oops!), drinking tea & Water.< /p>

I seem to have 'stuff' on my tongue, it's all white and yuckie! Is this normal?

Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone, I'm back at last.

The last few weeks have been so hectic, with my poor Mum in hospital and my youngest daughter going to Oz for 12 months.

My daughter went on Monday evening, but my Mum is still in hospital, they are saying she may not walk again and will have to go into a residential home.:w00t:

My weight doesnt seem to be moving and yet my clothes feel looser.

They do say you can lose inches and not pounds dont they.

I think I can blame this partially on my not smoking, its almost 4 weeks now.

At last my tummy is not so sore, and dont let that put you pre-bandsters off, I had one band removed and a new one put in as the old band was leaking, so it was a sort of double op, pain-wise.

Sammy you poor thing, that wind pain is a nightmare, but mine was easily cured with just one Remegel, and it never came back.

I know I've missed so many posts and the latest news and also newbies, but will try to catch up somehow.

I hope everyone is good :tt1:

Well thats me had my fourth fill,I had no restriction from my thrird so hopefully this one will make the diffrence.I have lost 10lb since my last fill so well pleased by that.On liquids for a few days now so i will keep yous posted if i get any restriction.

you have done really well with the 10lb youve lost!..i would be happy with that after my third fill!..not really got any restriction now unless its bread, mash potato, or rice, and i eat it too quick!..seem to get it for the week after fill then it eases off..having my third fill next tuesday..wendy says she hopes that will get me close to where i need to be, then fourth fill 2 weeks after if need be(were not far from the leeds location and sheffield one is on our doorstep,so can take advantage of all inclusive fills well!)...i can only imagine need will be!! just had big bowl of porridge with few chopped dates in it for sweetness, i ate a lot, and it was quite stodgy but it went down fine. hope you get some restriction from your fill this time, and youll be well on your way for summer x

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
