I have PCOS and I am having the sleeve done. My surgeon believes this will be the best surgery for my PCOS and liver. My girlfriend had the bypass and she cannot eat anything without dumping several times. However, when she had her surgery, the sleeve wasn't popular like it is now. Everyone's experience is different and I would listen to my surgeon. You can always get a second opinion though.

Wow I've never heard of someone dumping with every meal. I wonder if it is a surgical mistake?
I wish I knew so I could help her

The sleeve doesn't take longer st the hospital I went to however the hospital I went to is a center for excellence and they go well above any regulations-

Anything thing to think about is the fact that with the sleeve you have an extremely long staple line which can take some time to do- the hospital I used goes back and does a hand sewn reinforcement over the staple line of the sleeve and hasn't ever had a leak reported in all the years their program has been going on-

In bypass you don't have the insanely long staple line where it's critical it be perfect to prevent leaks - however I believe the going back and reinforcing whatever work is done causes the bypass to be longer at the hospital I used -

What does her doctor say? I hope she's been back or gone to someone for a secon opinion. That should definitely not be happening.

She has been back to her doctor multiple times & I can't say for certain what they have decided for her.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
