I've been warned of hair loss/thinning hair after surgery. My surgery is going to be scheduled very soon. And, believe it or not.....that is one of my top worries. Any help? Clues? Experiences? Remedies? Hat suggestions?

There's not a ton you can do to prevent hair loss. There are a lot of contributing factors and most are out of your control. The main things you can do are work to get your Protein and Vitamins ASAP post-op. WLS patients have a lot going against them when it comes to Hair loss since anesthesia, stress, rapid weight loss, and malnutrition can ALL cause hair loss.

But don't let that deter you! I haven't seen many people at all post who didn't eventually get their hair back I personally lost a fair amount of hair between 3.5 and 5.5 months post op. But it did start growing back right away. Plus, no one ever died from being bald. People die everyday from being obese. So definitely worth the trade-off!

As @@JamieLogical posted, here isn't a whole lot you can do but get in your Protein requirement as soon as possible and take you Multivitamins, all of them. My Hair loss started at 5 months out and now at 11 months, I can see tiny strands of baby hair forming around the outside of my face....It's coming back!

Wow I wasn't told about hair loss

It's something almost every WLS patient experiences a few months post-op. But for the vast vast vast majority of us, it's only temporary. And usually we don't even lose enough hair that other people would notice.

My hair loss has been so so bad. I'd say the only con to the many many pros of this surgery. I had thick, luxurious, waist length long hair. It's now thin and brittle. I'm nearing my 5 months and it started at 2 months so I'm hoping it stops soon. It comes out by the handfuls. With all that said, I wouldn't change my mind about the surgery. I'm still so glad I done it

I lost tons of weight pre-op (60 lbs) so my hair actually started falling a couple months before the surgery. I would find gobs of it on the drain every morning after shower.

There's a Shampoo that worked really really well for me. Expensive, but worth every penny:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
