Taking pills, how far apart?

Recommended Posts

I was able to swallow pills as soon as I left the hospital but had to wait 10 minutes between each pill. I'm now over 2 months out and keep forgetting to finish my meds because I am so busy! Can I just take them normally now or do I still have to wait 10 minutes between each one? I will call and ask but I always forget!

Thanks

10 minutes apart? I was never told that. I just had to break my pills into a bazillion pieces and take them one at a time. Even in the hospital they never had me wait in between each of them.

the only delays should be two hours between taking anything with Iron and a Calcium supplement (iron and calcium compete for absorption). And depending on how many/how much calcium you are taking, you may need to spread those out so you aren't taking more than 600mg at a time.

I was told by my center to take chewable for three months post op. I never tried taking an entire pill. Tylenol i would crush. My mom purchased a pill crusher for me at the pharmacy which came in very handy.

I take a lot of meds and have never had a problem swallowing them, even the day after surgery. I take them one at a time instead of 3 or 4 pills at once. With all the supplements on top of that if I waited 10 minutes between I'd be taking pills all day, lol. I'd say that if swallowing them doesn't hurt, they don't get stuck, and aren't causing any issues then just take them one at a time without waiting in between.

I was told take 1 pill at a time. Swallow 1, take next, repeat. Just not all at once so they don't get stuck.

That's the advice I'm following! also taking them before my first meal so they don't have to conflict with anything else in there!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
