Unflavored protein powder- what do you do with it?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgery on 1/30 and my Doctors office requires purchasing Bariatric Advantage Protein powders. They gave me a bunch of samples to see what flavors I like. I still have the unflavored packet because I'm not quite sure what to do with it. I will be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks and I am sure I will be looking for variety.

How did you use your unflavored Protein powder during the liquid stage and beyond? What else did you do for the liquid stage beyond the Protein shakes?

I used my unflavored Protein powder during the full liquid stage in chicken broth, cream of celery Soup and yogurt.

On the pureed stage, you can mix it in cottage cheese, yogurt, nonfat refried Beans, Soups, etc.

Right now I am on the soft food stage and I am using it quite a lot in my Decaf coffee and decaf iced tea to give myself some extra calories and Protein that I needed.

You can also mix it in other drinks like Crystal Light and Powerade Zero.

Unflavored Protein Powder is awesome!

If mixing it into a hot liquid, you will probably find that it clumps up and gets nasty. I found if you mix it (preferably with a blender) into warm Water or milk first and then mix THAT into the hot liquid, it works really well. I used regular bouillon cubes that way when I got sick of sweet cold stuff post-op. I personally don't like the texture change when mixing it with puddings and yogurts and stuff, but I'm super-sensitive to texture. It didn't seem to change the taste at all, which is what most people focus on. You can even mix it into regular cold drinks to boost the Protein, it just usually makes them cloudy and sometimes a little thicker.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
