Incision pain at almost 5 weeks

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'll be 5 weeks on Tuesday. I have lost about 25 pounds in all. (10 during 2 week pre op diet) the last week and a half or so my largest incision has been very uncomfortable. It's fine if I don't move, but hurts and stings when I move a certain way. Last week I was coughing and sneezing and thought that was aggravating it, but it is still bothering me. This morning before getting out of bed I touched it with my hand and it felt fine. Then I got out of bed and the gravity started the pain and stinging all over again. Is this part of the normal healing process or should I be concerned? I've had other surgeries and don't remember anything like this at 4-5 weeks post op.

First of all, definitely talk with your surgeon and get them checked out. Though, as far as me, I am at week 4 and still have some incision pain. I think it depends on your activities, your body and the incisions themselves.

My large incision is bleeding. I had the stitches removed after 2 weeks and ever since it's been bleeding. I went back to my surgeon on Saturday and he said it's fine, not infected so he put stern strips on it and sent me on my way. Well, it's still bleeding - is this normal?

I feel so much better today! Spoke to the nurse yesterday. She said it could take a while to heal. Since I was feeling a little better yesterday I told her I would wait to make an appointment with the doc. This morning I woke up feeling like there was never any pain there. Weird, but so glad to feel so good. Now to devise an exercise plan!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
