Hello everyone. I can't believe I'm posting on this board! I woke up 2 days ago and decided to have WLS. Now it's not as bad as it sounds. I've struggled with my weight for 20 years (I'll be 42 in February) I've never had any major health issues and have always looked at weight loss from the vanity side of things. But I've been steadily gaining weight and am now staying around 240. I am right on the edge of the BMI of40 for insurance to cover the surgery. But what prompted this is over the past few months I've noticedI just feel like crap, I hurt constantly, and my BP has started to creep up. I feel much much older than 41. We have 2 young children (5,4) that I can't keep up with. It finally hit me it's time to do something. For my health, for my family. I'm only in the research phase but the more I learn the more I feel this is the right journey for me. I feels sense of hope where I had lost it. I'm scheduling an information session on Monday when the clinic opens and we will go from there . I look forward to learning from you all!

Good luck. Just had surgery on 11/21/16! I feel great. I'm 45 it was a great decision for me. My bmi was 33 and I would not have waited any longer. If it's right for you I hope all things work out. Welcome.

Very similar here on was sick of feeling like crap, pain all the time, etc. Congrats on your first steps towards making your health and life a priority. When you decided that's what will work best for you, no need to defend it, just embrace it and stay focused on finding whatever way works to get you to the life you want to be living.

Best of luck!

Thank you everyone. The more I learn and research the more I feel this is the right decision. I'm actually getting excited. I look back to my 20s and I always knew I'd lose the weight someday with diet and exercise. Then I remember being in my late 30s with the goal of losing the weight and running a 5k by my 40th birthday. Well I'm about to be 42 and am

Heavier than ever and now fear I'll be in my 60s and dying if I dont act now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
