Do you ever miss the old you??? The cubby person you once were? Because I still see the slender me when I think of myself and when I look in the mirror it's the pictures that kill me! I'm like wait a minute who's that fat girl  or when I see my shadow and I'm like damn....... That's all me! but once it's gone do you miss it? like right now I can use my fat arm as a comfy pillow and my thighs make great warmth for my hands on cold nights and football games... lol but seriously do you look at pictures and miss the old you?

No.

Someone asked me last week what I think when I see old photos of me. I'd reposted a photo from 2010 when I was probably at my heaviest. I don't like that woman. She is never coming back.

No I don't at all because when I see those pictures all I think of is how uncomfortable I was in my own skin and how fake of a smile I was putting on for the camera when inside I felt like I was dying.

Absolutely not. Not only do I not miss the physical part of it (being WAY overweight), but I also do not miss the person I was in that body. Losing weight and getting to the root of my food issues has empowered me to make a lot of other changes in my life beyond pants size.

NOPE NOT FOR A SECOND!!! It is my family that misses my OTHER BODY, it is so hard when everyone lives to eat around here. It is so hard for them to comprehend that I don't want to go out to eat and stuff myself. Our family has always been food addicts. My Mom wasn't overweight but we always got together and ate. That was our focus. My daughter and hubby (even tho he has had WLS) think that food makes us happy. I don't buy into this any more and it is so hard for them. Like the Holidays aren't what they are all cracked up to be, after my mom passed it just isn't the same. I also think to myself why should we cook all of that food and then I eat 3 or 4 bites and be done. Basically, I still do it for my grandkids. I would just as soon stay home and eat a piece of chicken. LOL

Thanks for your replies, I find myswlf wondering will I miss this body... Its crazy tho I never really realize my size until I see a picture. But I see all of your points. Doing the things I enjoy like bike riding, skating, dancing would be a lot easier once I lose this weight.

I miss nothing about being grossly overweight.

There was nothing healthy about it. I was at risk for heart issues and a liability to my family.

Leaner, lighter, happier and ready to enjoy life's challenges now.

Never again.

Nope! But my dog does miss having the shelf of a stomach to lay on. Although I think he's content without it.

Besides 160 pounds of pure fat, there's nothing to miss. I'm the same person I always was.

same here! in my mind i dont look so huge but then i see a photo and UGH.

im just barely post op but in the past i did lose a very large amount of weight and get down to a "normal" bmi. the only change that i didn't like was being FREEZING all the time, lol.

totally worth it, but that's the only thing i remember!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
