My surgery was yesterday. Doing great. I was told I had Post op nausea pretty bad by don't remember it at all. As long as I keep up in pain meds I'm great. Second day into my journey and I and walked a mile. Not too shabby. Sending positive vibes to all. I hope my journey continues on the path I've started.

I had my surgery yesterday. They were not kidding about the nausea when you wake up. Prepare yourself now. I was sick the entire 9 months with both of my kids (hyper emesis), but the nausea from the surgery makes that pale in comparison. My incisions hurt pretty badly when I have to get out of bed. But, I know this will all be worth it in the end.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to give an update. I had my surgery Tues 12/6 and came home from the hospital yesterday. The surgeon discovered I had a large hiatal hernia once I was in the OR, which he repaired. It added about 30 minutes onto my surgical time, but I was still out of the OR in less than 2 hours, then I spent about an hour in recovery before heading up to my room.

The surgery went better than I could have hoped for. I've had no nausea, minimal gas pains that pretty much take care of themselves if I just move around a bit, and the pain was less than I had with my C-sections. I had a dilaudid pain pump and could hit the bolus button up to 3 x hour but only used it a total of about 7-8 times the first day and 4 the second. I was up in the chair the evening after surgery and sat comfortably for a few hours, then walked around the unit a few times the following day. Once I was able to start drinking, I had no trouble handling the 6 - 30 cc cups of Fluid in an hour, even though they told me it would probably take some time to work up to that amount.

Today I've been able to walk around the house a bit (with some help getting out of the recliner. lol) and have been able to tolerate some skim milk, sipping slowly of course, strained fat free cream of mushroom Soup, a sf popsicle, and have been doing good getting down my Water. I tried a few sips of a Premier shake but felt my stomach bubbling and shortly after had some diarrhea, so think I'll put the shakes on hold for a few days before attempting again.

I used some of the liquid pain medicine at bedtime last night but haven't needed any so far today. I am feeling a little sore though at the moment, so I may use some now and then take a nap. I know that I was really worried about the potential complications pre-op, so I feel really blessed that everything has went great so far and thought I'd share some positive vibes. I hope that everyone else has an easy road ahead as well. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
