Started the 6 month on 1/14/16 at 268.9 Surgery was 7/6/16 at 232.4 Since surgery lost 36.2 lbs at 196.2. It is so slow that there is almost no change week to week. What are some of the things you all are doing daily that IS working for you? Like how much exercise do you do each day, how long, how many days a week etc. what are your daily meals like? For example: Snacks, lunch dinner etc. are you weighing everything?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions and meal samples and such.

Super low carb is the only diet that ever effectively helped me lose weight preop. Less than 20g of carb per day, no more than 75g of Protein and as much fat as I wanted. I lost 100lbs and got down to mymgoal weight following that. I started adding carbs back into my diet, believing I was metabolically healthy because I was at goal weight. First beer, then bread and before i knew it I had gained 50lbs back. Then I started visiting an old friend and partying at least one night a week. Getting hammered and ordering takeout, plus she basicallly lives on carbs and so eating junk food the whole time. Doing low carb 6 days a week and splurging one day a week helped me pack on the other 50 lbs.

Now, 3 weeks post op and I am just starting to reintroduce real foods. I will be avoiding rice, potatoes, breads and beer probably for the rest of my life.

Low carb veggies like broccoli, spinach, cauliflower and full fat cuts of meat are my plan. So far I am down 30 lbs in 27 days.

I am only 2 weeks out so I am living on Protein shakes but going forward, yes, I plan to weigh everything I eat and track every bite I put in my mouth. I plan to eat low carb, good carbs only and even those rarely. Low sugar. Always keep my Water and Protein up. This is for life, the surgery did not "cure" my obesity.

Do you have a nutritionist you can talk to??

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
