Okiegirl1980, it's all good. I don't wear my feelings on my sleeve(No pun intended). We all make mistakes and whether I'm an idiot or a genius is not even the question. Let's just stop all of this nonsense!

OP, and those of you who have had the surgery (I'm still pre-op here),

When you did something your stomach did not agree with did you have any vomiting? If yes, does it help usually or hurt more? How can you differentiate between Gas pains after eating or something much worse such as long-term intolerance?

@@Anthony74, I hope you feel better & that everything is still intact with your sleeve.

When I eat something my tummy doesn't like, one of three things happen:

I vomit.
I dump.
I am extremely uncomfortable for a few hours.

What my stomach doesn't like changes from day to day, even at 3.5 years out, so my rule is always to eat slow, chew well, and eat really small meals 5 or 6 times a day.

It's not a site where everyone lies to avoid being attacked. Some of us actually take this very seriously and follow instructions and make good choices.

I had just started eating whole foods again and was in a hurry to get to work and ate chicken and cheese way too fast and did not take the time to chew completely. Boy , not only had to call off four hours of work, but was in distress until I threw everything up. Lesson learned. Old habits creep up on you as well as old mindsets. I had been feeling really good, and followed all the rules and my brain started thinking that I was as good as before. WRONG. Anthony thank your for sharing and your light hearted attempt to minimize the dangerous situation you COULD have been in. but was not. What I got from your post is that it was not worth it. Lesson learned . Thank you. :D

This is great advice. I knew I was supposed to chew slow but honestly didn't realize just how slow I needed to chew. I thought I was eating puréed salmon slow but didn't realize slow means like literally snails pace, at least at first. Like at least a few/several minutes of chewing for newbies. It means you have to pay extreme attention to everything that goes in your mouth. I also started only eating with teaspoons or baby spoons to make sure I'm limiting my bite size appropriately.

Don't delete the site. There is so much helpful info and so many helpful and kind people on here. Don't be afraid to post exactly what you want also! You will find after being on here for a while that it's the same handful of people that are always rude and have sarcastic, childish and unsupportive responses non stop. It shouldn't be like that but it is. Be the adult and look past them or if it's really bothersome to you, block them. I stopped reading responses from said handful of people. I scan right over them. They mean nothing to me. I don't know them and they don't know me. With that said, Grilled cheese may not have been the best choice but come on, you ate it, nobody else. Not sure why it effects them so much. Congrats on your weight-loss and glad your mistake taught you a lesson. We have all learned things the hard way.

Ok so let me just preface this by saying I am pre-op still, but I can't say that I really understand, I mean you write that post like it was some joke, that it was somehow funny that you tried to eat that so early post op, it's really not that funny. Do you know why it caused you so much pain? Because it's actually dangerous for you to be eating like that right now. I mean what would possess you to do that? I'm just curious because the dangers of not following the proper stages of eating post op scare me so I think I would be too scared and I definitely wouldn't joke about it

She wrote it that way because she a self talk. It is funny. It goes something like this this SELF I TOLD YOU NOT TO EAT THAT ANYMORE. YOU DID NOT LISTEN TO ME. SO NOW YOU WILL PAY DEARLY

I was just sleeved on the 7th in Mexico. I have not had any problems swallowing. I've been drinking plenty of fluids. Protein shakes, broth, Water,Propel, etc. why did I just try to eat a 1/2 of a grilled cheese sandwich? It went down great but then I heard my stomach say, "Why did you just do that? I specifically told you that you were done eating that type of stuff but you still want to disrespect me. Let me show you how I treat people that is disrespectful to me". All of a sudden, there was a pain that I have never felt before, and it lasted long time too! Bottom line, I'm gonna respect you from now on!!!!!! It won't happen again!!!!!!!

Those self convos will but you in check every time. I don't mean to laugh but you made it sound funny which is something that I would do

@ Dub, I'm good trust me. I just don't like being bullied. I posted something, I owned up to it and moved on. But you have certain people on her who are just relentless with the bashing and I'm sick of it. The people that Normally the most negative are the ones that are sitting in a Dunkin Donuts all day everyday. I just wanted to move on past the post.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
