Does anyone know if a matzoh ball (in soup) would cause a problem? I'm still on mushies -- maybe not at this stage?

I lived on matzoh ball Soup during my post op liquid and mushy phase and had no problems whatsoever.

Fish is fish, smoked or not. Smoked salmon is one of my staples. And matzoh ball Soup is great, too, as long as you don't stuff yourself with the balls.

Bagels are out, though, if you have restriction; that was the one thing I had to completely give up that I really was afraid I'd miss. But it's amazing how good restriction lets you just ignore food that will cause a problem!

I had matzoh ball Soup today-just started mushies and it was fine- the ball was very soft though- I also used Dr. Geiss 2 weeks ago- I am very hungry, and hoping that the mushie stage will be better-

enjoy!

Crucial question: are you guys referring to the big fluffy matzo balls? Because I'm very partial to the firmer kind, and my wife makes the best ones around. If I chop 'em up and chew really well, is there any way those can work, or does the fact that they're so compact rule it out automatically?

I've had both kinds without problem. Just make sure that you have more Soup than matzoh ball, and that you chew the firmer matzoh ball really well.

Shrinkage- I love that episode of Seinfeld, I keep it on TiVo for when I'm in a bad mood :Banane30:

About the Soup, if one person can't eat them, another person can. Everyone is different with the band. Some people can't eat bread.. I can eat a whole slice of toast with no problem. But chicken? No way. Thinly sliced deli meat? NOPE!

It varies so much person to person, the only way you'll know is if you try :)

Okay, I'm lazy and don't make my own Soup (yeah, I know...) so I'm not sure about 'fluffy vs. non-fluffy', but I eat the Manischewitz pre-made matzoh ball soup in the jars...no issues whatsoever.

Shrinkage, Laura was right what is good for one might not be so good for another . I think trial by error is the best way. You are the only one who knows what can and cannot go down well. I live on Soup now and I have become quite inventive with quiches.

I have a tough time with beef and forget about bread .

:help:

I know I can't eat sticky foods. What about ethnic Jewish food like Lox, Herring, Gilfilte Fish, Bagels, etc.

JudyH :(

I eat lox, herring, gefilte fish (my staple food - quick and easy to take one piece out of the jar) -- all of these are fish and have lots of Protein.

Sorry, I haven't tried bagels yet -- I just don't eat bread.< /p>

I was banded on 7/30 and have lost almost 30 pounds.

I just remembered -- I also eat brisket and kashe -- homemade chicken Soup with fine noodles.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
