Depends on the person but I eat spicy all the time.

No one said anything to me about eating spicy food and there was nothing in the pre and post op diet information I received. Spicy food has never bothered me, so i didn't think to ask.

Post op day 4, I went to the grocery store across the street from the hotel in Tijuana and bought some spicy ramen cups and strained the broth off because I found the broth at the hotel to be unappealingly bland. It didn't cause any issues (that I'm aware of, day 8 now). I've never had chronic heartburn, diarreah or hiccups or anything from spicy food, so I thought nothing of it.

In July, I was in South Korea, Japan and China and they prepare VERY spicy food and I couldn't get enough.

One of those things you just kinda have to try and see, I think. I haven't had any issues with the spicier things I've tried so far, so I'm gradually ramping up the spiciness just to see how it goes. I may try some Indian curry and find out, before too long.

I can actually handle much, much spicier foods now. I crave it. I've been eating a ton of Korean and Thai foods. I think I eat so little, and I miss flavor, so I crank it up to 10 when I can.

So funny seeing this thread because my mom and I were arguing about this today lol. I wanted Thai spicy tuna fish pouches and I'm on purees phase and she keeps suggesting that spice is bad for my healing cut on stomach. I told her, I asked on here at one time and people basically agreed that it was fine unless you couldn't handle it any longer. I tried the tuna without issue.

Now my weight center always puts patients on protonix for a month so I don't know if that's keeping me from feeling any adverse effect from the heat!!??

Anyways, I love spice. Love thai food, siracha and pickled jalapenos plus I make a pretty good salsa with Serrano chilies!!

FYI- hot peppers are good good for your metabolism too,!!

I started with putting Sriracha in broth as soon as I got home from the hospital, and kept going, adding spices, hot sauce, etc. to anything I think will benefit from it. Spicy has never bothered me in the slightest either before or after surgery.

Sometimes yes ... sometimes no. I had a squid salad yesterday I had to pick the tiny red peppers out of. Whew, they burned. But I can do buffalo sauce/flavors no issue.

Doesn't always feel the best on the way out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
