I saw a couple of people posting who had shoulder pain. I was told to expect shoulder pain in the left shoulder by my doctor. He said that it is caused by the diaphram. I didn't have pain in my left shoulder I had pain in my right shoulder. i found that walking a lot and putting the heating pad on it really helped. It usually happens when I start slouching because I don't want to stretch my stomach out. But it really helped when I stretched a little bit. Not just stretching the shoulder but stretching my sides too. Take it easy though or you might hurt yourself.

Hope it goes away!

Gratefully I've not had any shoulder pain. I just got a few stabs in my central chest area but the GasX strips helped that to leave quickly. I think I'll need to reconsider going back to work Friday. I am really sore and setting down or laying down hurts. I feel best when I walk around. At least I'm not dizzy anymore.

Take care all!

Boy you guys are all troopers! I leave tonight for my procedure tommorrow at 10:30am. I am getting nervous and dreading the long flight, but I'm hopeing it will all work out. I guess what I am most concerned about is the flight home on Sunday. It's probably not going to be pretty as I will have to be sitting for long stretches of time and will be bloated. Oh well...this to will pass right!

Boy when I get home I'm going to make my husband baby me for a change lol!

Good luck tommorrow Carson's Mommy and I'll be checking in when I get back on Sunday if I can!

Sitting isn't too bad, actually, though reclining would be a little better and we all know those airline seats don't recline much! Be sure to bring a fluffy pillow to hold over your belly and then you can rest your arms on top. At least for me, that was the most comfortable position in the car and at home.

Have a safe trip and let us know how you're doing when you get back!

Andie - I'm not sure what it's caused from. I just know it's gas. Whether it's from anaesthesia, the gas they use blowing up your stomach for surgery, I'm not sure. But it's a pain in the neck - literally!

Good Luck Andie and Banded4life!! You both will do great and will be on your way to a new adventure. I am so glad I did this procedure and can't wait to start reaping the benefits!

Those of you who have had the procedure..did you have any trouble consuming anything thicker than Water or broth 4days after your procedure. I've tried to drink Protein Shakes, tried yogurt smoothies and they both cause me pain. So in the last 4 days I've only had like 300 calories because the broth only has like 5 calories per cup..lol..So I really am hoping that this pases soon...not like my body doesn't have lots to live off of.

Oh, and on a more personal note..when were you able to go #2, i feel like I have to go and nothing...probably because there is nothing in my body..I tried taking some child laxative to give it a little push but still nothing...if you don't mind sharing I just want to make sure that this is normal.. :paranoid

i'monmyway - definitely yes to the no. 2. Believe me, there's stuff in there - I learned the hard way, took a pill which gave me such severe gas that I thought I was going to throw up. I'm going to try prune juice! I also got very bad gas pain - pretty much whatever I did - drinking, walking, driving. I think it just has to work its way out with time. ;)

Well I was banded on the 7th!! Only a bit stiff...could not have gone better...I have had no gas or sharp pains. I was told to only have clear sugar free liquids so that is all I have had. I am taking my meds and they all have agreed with me so far. I hope all of you have as easy a surgery as I did...good luck to all...

I also had my surgery on the 7th. I am very sore around the port site and also my back hurts(maybe from sleeping in the recliner?) It sounds like some of you are doing better than me. I can't imagine going back to work real soon. It's been just over 72 hours and I also have not gone #2. Hard to believe with all I am eating. Small portions though. I am eating ok and have considerable gas. Some of you asked for ideas of what to eat. My doctor has me on mushies. I have had suger free pudding, cream of wheat with milk, tuna blended w light mayo, v8, Mushroom Soup in a blender, a tablespoon of creamy peanut butter-just a little at a time since I heard someone else had trouble with it. I ate dannon light and fit creamy yogurt (strawberry and no pieces in it)-YUM! i also had some baby food green beans:(, sugarfree Popsicles and Jello. I know they are not the greatest, but a also had just a small amount of mashed potatoes w a tiny bit of gravy. It is allowed by my doctor as long as I only do the starches and fats 1 or 2 a day. Anyone besides Imonmywmay7368 have a long wait for a bowel movement? How are you doing now Imonmyway7368?

aa8ua,

You are so lucky!! I had my Surgery on the 5th and this is my list of stuff I can have for this week...

coffee, tea, crystal light, broth (no veggies or noodles), skim milk, sugar free Jello, low fat yogurt, sugar free pudding, applesauce, fruit smoothies with low fat milk and yogurt and unsweetened fruit juice.

Plus I can only have 1/4 cup every time I eat and I am supposed to have 3 Protein Shakes and pick one of these as my other two meals. I want something warm and delicous!! I can't have mashed potatoes until next week and I can't have noodles until the 4th week!! I've already lost 12 pounds in 5 days!! Probably because I'm only eating like 300 calories a day because the Protein shakes are NASTY!! LOL

Week 2 and 3 I can have creamy Soups, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, oatmeal, and grits...

So still no #2, but not feeling the pressure anymore...is it normal to not have a #2 for 5 days?? Today I cleaned the house finally and feel great the port site is still sore though..but feeling wonderful other than that no more bloating but the gas is still passing:embarassed:!!

Take care Yall!!:P

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
