I won't leave...I promise. I feel planted in this group with all my heart. I only really closely follow 3 groups and this one has been a great support for me. I still haven't recieved my call for surgery yet...so I am going to assume it will be beginning of December but I am going to call them tomorrow to see what the surgeons office says. I will keep ya'll updated!

Hi April. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.....not a psycho bandster, but let them know you are flexible and ready to go. Whatever the date, it's what's meant to be and where you are meant to be. I am actually on vacation so I will check on the Nov people when I get home.

Hello everybody

I could be banded in November, actually I haven't taken the final decision. I'm still weighing the pros and cons. I just got over 35 in BMI, have never been there before (always 32-33). But I've been on every diet known to man in my life and now I feel like I will never be able to get this under control without help. I'm putting on weight fast these days, I know I could lose some of it but I also know it will be a fight to keep it off.

For me it is a big decision and this forum could really help me with it.

How did you decide? Has it been a long process for you?

How did you decide? Has it been a long process for you?

I went to a seminar about a year and half ago. I was really interested in the lap band but found out a few days later that my insurance would not cover it. I didn't have the money to pay out of pocket so I guess it just got forgotten about. Since then I've gained about 25 more pounds and have been miserable. I decided about a month ago that I was ready for the lap band not matter what. To my surprise, my insurance now covers it and that really pused me to getting it done. I had to wait about three weeks to meet with the surgen and was approved right away. I set up my date and now I am just waiting. I guess it all depends on your insurance, what kind of testing you may need and how busy the surgen is. If you are self pay then I'm sure it would be a little quicker. Since I've thought about it to my surgery date will be about 3 months I guess.

I have done my consultation with the doc, done my nutrional evaluation over the phone and faxed in my multiple attempts at weight loss. All I have left is a medical clearance form my primary doc and my psych eval, which is scheduled for this Friday and hopefully I will have my surgery in November. My insurance will pay for the surgery, it is just a matter of the documnetation that I hand in.

Wisk me Luck

I'll be banded Nov. 5th! Dr. Moon - near Ithaca, NY. I'm getting excited/and nervous. I'm 50, a Mom and a grandmother to 1 grandson with 1 grandaughter on the way. Yay!!! I'm hoping to keep in touch with everyone on here. I seem to get confused as to where I am and where I just was. Allot of clicking. Hopefully I won't get lost. :-) So, hello everyone. Dianne

Hi All,

I have my appointment with the Doc this Friday. I am going to be a self pay so they have said that the date I wanted "Nov 7" would be a go!! Now I am so like all of you, hopeful, happy, scared, and ready to finally have the right tool to do this job...

I, too, have only told my immediate family and I really don't want to tell any one at work, but I may end up telling my boss. She's a great person but I really just want this for me and I know that because she is a huge WW fan that she would tell me to try that again...Lord knows how many diets I have been on. My last attempt was the Alli and again..nothing. So I am ready for this...

I am in Washington and will be banded by Dr. Srikanth. He and the hospital are certified excellent in weight loss surgery.

I am 48 yrs old and I kept putting off the thought of surgery, because I am older...when I voiced this opinion on the site I received a ton of encouraging replys back...they all said go for it..no matter your age.

Well enough about me..how are all of you feeling? Have you been reading all the different threads? Most are very helpful and some are scarey..

I wish you all the best..and hope to be hearing of each of your success as we take this journey..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
