Did they numb you during surgery?

Recommended Posts

I know you are under anesthesia but did they also numb the stomach area or were you sore immediately upon awakening?

I don't believe Dr. Provost numbed my stomach area. But I wouldn't have notice anyways since he was 'nice' enough to have me on a morphine pump when I woke up! :rolleyes It probably depends on the doctor and where he performs the procedure.

This was my second try at doing the lapband, the first time was a nightmare "" all around. This time, well I'm sure you've heard the saying 'different as daylight and dark' --- :whoo:and it was!!!!

I didn't get a morphine pump, so I woke up in excruciating pain. But, I did buzz the nurses every couple minutes to make sure they came and shot me up with some demerol. One night nurse gave me a tip.. if he shot it in my leg, instead of my IV it would last longer. Otherwise it seemed to wear off every 30 minutes.

I don't know about actually numbing it, I don't think they do that in surgery??

But, they severed some sort of nerves, there's a 4"x6" patch of skin below my port scar, that I still can't feel (surgery was in April).

Hope that doesn't scare you! I was shocked by the pain I was in, most people say it wasn't a big deal.. My surgeon might have just been extra rough on me ;)

I wasn't numbed and I woke up and I swear I was still being stitched up. I tried to speak and say "Are you stitching me? It HURTS!" But, I think it can out all muffled because I had something in my mouth preventing me from speaking. I don't know if I had a blindfold on because I couldn't see anything. I just tried to talk for a minute and then next thing I knew I was waking up in my room. Really weird!

I had a Purcacet pump. It was wonderful. The reason you couldn't talk was because you were on oxygen and a hose was put down your throat. I didn't have that because I have a trach and right before I went under, the ENT doc did a trach change. To involved to explain. So when I woke up in the recovery room, I hurt from the nexk down!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
