Who's your biggest support?

Recommended Posts

I have a counselor who is my venting place. My family is supportive, but don't really understand. I have a friend going through her own weight loss journey, strict diet and exercise programs from her dr/Dietitian... she's been helpful and I am to her. But who are other people's support systems?

Myself really.

I find it is easier and more reliable to self motivate and encourage than to depend on other people.

My partner is my rock, and my greatest source of support in this and everything else in life. My parents and brother are also a great source of support. My parents were here on the day of surgery and stayed for a week after. I talk to them and my brother several times a week.

My partner..he has Bypass surgery years ago but has since regained...so he knows all the "things not to do" and gives me insight on things I didn't get anywhere else but he doesn't pester me if its just a bad day or i make a bad choice eating wise. The biggest thing? He celebrates my victories with me, no matter how small they are and in genuinely happy for me.

I am so lucky to have the amazing support system I do...first and foremost, my husband has been wonderful throughout this process and has always stuck by me making us healthy dinners. My mother in law had the sleeve done too about 4 years ago so she's been wonderful. My mom has seen me struggle with my weight my entire life and although she was hesitant at first, she's seen the new life this process has handed me and wants to have it done too! My 2.5 year old has been so patient...from me not being able to hold her for 2 weeks (hardest thing I've ever done) to kissing the "boo boos" on mommy's tummy...she's my reason for wanting to be healthy. My best friend's mom had her sleeve procedure done 2 weeks before mine so she's been wonderful from being a gym partner to someone to talk to and lean on and someone to share the process with. The rest of my family and friends have been encouraging, supportive and wonderful...I am so fortunate to not have any negativity in my life regarding this decision...it's been the greatest thing I've ever done for myself and my family! I go to the boxing gym weekly, go to the gym, run & I'm running my first 5K this weekend...I'm certain I never would be doing this without this new found confidence/determination.

All my friends and family know, and they have been great. But my husband had a bypass 10 years ago, so he definitely understands what I'm going though and is my biggest support for sure!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
