Exercise and fibromyalgia

Recommended Posts

I too have fibromyalgia and have been for the past 2 yrs restricted to only exercising in a heated pool. Needless to say it doesn't happen because of my work and family schedule (single mom). I tried doing regular exercise and 5 mins in regretted it but pushed through to 10 mins and couldn't walk the next day. So I commend you for the 15 mins and baby steps are right. You'll get more in each time even if you just increase it by a minute.

I have fibromyalgia as well, although mine seems to be fairly mild. You are definitely doing the right thing by taking baby steps. I also recommend pool exercises, and then a soak in a hot tub afterwards if at all possible. Get some rest and keep up with your fluids. Gentle hugs!

I am curious to hear people's experience. I have fibro. It seems to always be aching somewhere. Most of the time it's tolerable. I wonder if it gets better the more you loose or if fibro is not so directly related to weight. I know not all affected are obese but I'm hoping things get a bit betterish

Busybeebug,

From my rheumatologist has told me the only correlation between Fibro and weight is most people with Fibro gain weight. She said this is mainly due to the pain and many other symptoms associated with Fibro. I was finally diagnosed 3 yrs ago and about a year in I had lost about 10 lbs in between my 6 month visit. She told me to keep up the hard work as it helps with the pain most people have in their legs and feet but mainly be you've lost the weight.

I too have pain everyday and the stiffness, it just changes to different parts of the body however I'm so thankful that the medication I take is the reason for this. Prior to being put on medication I felt like I had been dropped off of a 12 story building. Every part of my body was in pain all day everyday. I couldn't even walk up right. Could be why my back is so much worse than it was. It took 2 years of everything but the kitchen sink before I was finally diagnosed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
