I have been approved by my insurance and my surgery date is set for November 7th. My birthday is November 5th and I truly can't think of a more beautiful way to welcome in a new year for myself. I am so incredibly excited and ready for this new beginning. I have been so terrified of the insurance company pulling this out from underneath me that now that I have the okay I feel like the weight of the word has been lifted from my shoulders.

I went through over a year of education and various hoops, and then just waiting for a window of opportunity to get the thing scheduled, and a TON of issues with the California insurance exchange screwing up my Blue Shield policy, over and over again. By the time I was on the pre-op diet and all signs were go, I was just totally ready to have it over with. I'm two weeks post-op now and feeling good, and just so glad to have the entire thing behind me, with the journey of weight loss ahead of me. Persevere, you are almost there and the next month is going to pass quickly, with all the pre-op appointments and various things they make you do.

WLS is a great way to start your new life

glad insurance finally gave you the official good word!!!

you have a one month wait before surgery

use that time to your advantage

read up on your specific surgery

watch U-tube

"maybe" practice a few necessary rules you must follow

Water situation can be difficult

practice drinking 64 oz a day, not drinking with meals

don't drink for 1/2 an hour before you eat, and don't drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat

come to the board and get lots of good info

we're all FULL of it ;)

being excited is a great emotion

feelings can go up and down like a yo yo!!

as time passes you might become nervous, scared, "terrified" eeeeek!

you will also feel joy and happiness etc

or you might stay cool as a cucumber

many OP (me) are/were apprehensive as surgery approached

"try" and stay calm as possible

easier said than done!!!

good luck next month

speedy recovery

kathy

Congrats! I have my date 10/20. I got approved immediately with bcbs but they sure made me go through hoops after approval. Please keep us posted on new updates.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
