To eat or not to eat....

Recommended Posts

I'm adding unjury unflavored to everything. Hope it helps.

Can Unjury be mixed well into hot foods?

For me I can add it to warm foods (not too hot). If you order the unjury starter pack they send you a food thermometer.

I have been having the same issue. Most days, I eat several very small meals. At first, I was only able to eat 4 or 5 bites, but as I progress (I am almost 6 wks out) the amount I can eat increases. Don't panic and just try to make up the difference with Protein shakes. If they get hard to drink, try mixing them with, pudding, yogurt, coffee (decaf if your plan does not condone it), etc. or get unflavored Protein and mix into warm broth or other Soups.

I think this is pretty normal and part of the process. Good luck!

It's not unusual that early out to still need to supplement your meals with Protein powder in order to meet your Protein goals. Your need to supplement will go down as you get to a point where you can get all your protein in through meals and high protein Snacks.

With your meals - make sure you are focusing on protein. The addition of any veggies/fruit/whole grain carbs should only be AFTER you have met your protein goal for the day.

For the person who asked about unjury and hot liquids. THe instructions when I got it said to mix with warm liquids below 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Any hotter than that and the protein will coagulate and clump up and be generally disgusting.

I'm having the opposite problem...I'm hungry ALL THE TIME and eating way more food than they said I was going to be able to. I can't starve myself! It's insane.

I get it. I am hungry all the time. I am keeping with calories count...but I'm starving. I never had the non hungry feeling from day one. End of this week i can move up from max 600 cal to 800 cal. I am SO excited. Any increase is welcome.

After surgery, the first week was fine, probably just for not feeling so great, the second week I craved a cheese burger(not sure why), I'm starting week 4 and now I don't crave anything.....I really just don't care if I eat, now don't get me wrong. ..I am eating my 3 meals a day and most days drinking my Protein shake. But I can not eat enough to get in my Protein. My nutritionist has said to stop when I feel full, so I do. But it's not allowing me all my protein and calories. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

Jennifer

You have got to get in your protein. Even if you don't feel like eating you may need to eat more frequently with small protein-rich meals and Snacks.
Exactly what I do, I can't eat allot in one setting, so I eat throughout the day. Like now I'm having for a late lunch..2 string cheese and 2 servings of deli rotisserie chicken breast. I may eat on it for an hour..but I'll finish it...good luck.

That was me for almost a year. I still can't always get it all in. I have days when I really want to eat but can't. I have days when I really don't eat at all. And I have days when I graze on cheese', nuts', and meat' all day. It's definitely a new bizarre normal.

I don't mind it a bit. :)

I have this problem. I have not uttered a word because I know you all will condemn me to death but I have one meal only most of the days. I do have healthy Snacks and Protein shakes instead of the meal if I don't want to eat. Solutions??

Most of my "meals" would be considered "snacks" by others. :D

You are not alone... I am 12 well 13 weeks post op now and it seems the further I get along the less I eat... I think I'm just not as obsessed about eating every 2-3 hours and Protein here there and everywhere. I should be and since I've become a little more lax I feel like I've had a setback... I find it harder to eat. Today I fixed a smoothie. 6 strawberries, 1/4 cup of pineapple, 1/4 cup of blueberry and 2 cup of spinach. 1 tbsp. honey. I use Water for my liquid and it makes about 12-14 oz. That was at 9am I just looked up and it was 3 something and I haven't really eaten anything since. I just grabbed a Protein shake from the work fridge. I keep a few in there for these moments but honestly I haven't really eaten like I should. I bring food to work--- meals and snacks-- and wont touch any of it the whole day. Its annoying... I think because I have to eat so small and so slow-- I lose interest and give up. I fix a small bowl and eat 2 or 3 bites and I'm satisfied.

I ate 1/2 a sandwich for the first time yesterday. Corned beef on rye. I hadn't had any bread since surgery but seeing that I'm not eating much these days I went for it. I was only able to eat a little over half of the half. Gave the rest to my hubby.

I just have no interest in food. Anyways I know that we must eat for sustenance and give our body the nutrients it needs. So I'm in a eating slump right now-- Loving the restriction but I know I need to be more mindful to EAT and DRINK!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
