Surgery was yesterday!

So, I had my surgery yesterday!! Super sore

On my left side which is normal. I walked some yesterday afternoon, down the hallway last night and then some today!

Overall, not a terrible experience.

Hi Kat,

I'm so excited for you, congratulations, you've done it. Now you're comments will be Post-Op, :) I hope you feel better and better every day. How long did the surgery take? How long will you be in the hospital? The reason I ask, is my surgery is coming up so soon, my pre-op is this Friday 09/30, and surgery is on 10/13. I hope you keep sharing the steps you go through for those of us coming up next in line.

Michelle

Congratulations, Kat! Take it one day at a time. I just finished my first day back the university in the classroom following my RNY last Monday. Can't wait to meet up with the bariatric team on Friday to check my progress and add a bit more variety to my menu I ordered a fitness watch to keep track of my walking and remind me when it is time to do whatever I need to do. As someone a week a head of you, never hesitate to reach out if you need a buddy to chat with about the journey.

Good luck and keep us updated, Kat.

Pain hasn't been too terrible. One of the incisions on my left side is awful. I knew this was going to happen. Thank goodness for painkillers. I will likely go home tomorrow!

@@KatB5331 the pain really isn't bad at all, my surgery was Monday 26, came home Wednesday, just sipping and walking the house. Hope you have a speedy recovery

@ Ronniebob can't believe your back to work already, my Dr won't let me drive for 3 weeks, won't release me to go back to work for 4 weeks.

Hope you are doing well.

Best wishes everyone

Thank you for the kind words, Kat. I was able to return to work on the 8th day because my wife was willing to drive me the 45 miles to and from work. We just made the same trip again today (9/30) for my first post-op doctor's appointment. All is progressing fantastically at this point. Pain free. Lost 9.2 lbs. since I checked in for surgery on the 19th. Cleared to move to phase 2 of the post-op diet and drive today. Now comes the fun of trying to determine when to drink the liquids around the "meals" (30 min buffers on both sides). Still wrestling with determining if a Premier Protein is a meal or a liquid. LOL. Cleared for Elli Quark and Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt (both of which provide added Protein - 80 cal and 14 gr protein for Quark or 120 cal and 15 gr protein for Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt). Also received some Bariatric Pal creamed Soups and hot chocolate to try (each has 15 gr of added protein).

Wishing you every continued success, Kat, and I'm here to support you along the way.

My surgeon said i could go back to work the next week if i wanted, just to listen to my body's cues and rest if i need to. I am going to do 4 hours a day for the first week back, full time the second week. Lucky for me i only work 0.5 miles from my house.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
