Ricotta bake remake

Recommended Posts

We did a version of the ricotta bake tonight. I'm not a big fan of marinara so instead we used classical light Alfredo sauce. We also added imitation crab and portobello mushrooms. Pretty darn good stuff!

You mean I can eat something as delicious as this sounds and looks someday? I'm two weeks out and I feel like Oliver Twist at the orphanage, as if I am on a diet of gruel lol.

I realize it will be awhile before I can eat this, but I was beginning to think Campbell's Soup was my future for life, and I never liked Soup very much anyway!

Looks great. I hope you enjoyed it!

Ricotta bake is considered ok for the puree stage.

@esskay I tried this tonight and it was amazing!! I used 1/4 c of parm instead of 1/2 c and other than that it was identical and is my new favourite recipe. It seems like it should be so high cal but it's not. My version (recipe counted as 4 servings) is

cal 182

carbs 4

fat 12

Protein 14

I've changed this up a couple of times now. I did the same thing but without mushrooms and crab. Instead I've done shrimp and old bay seasoning or shredded chicken and Valentina hot sauce.

Can anyone give me some idea of what size pan this requires?

@@PorkChopExpress Such a great question! I've never actually made this, only read about it quite often. However, based on the ingredients, I would probably make it in an 8x8 inch pan. Or a casserole dish that can go in the oven. I might be wrong on this but that is what I would try first. But, if others have made it, feel free to speak up! Or, you can check on theworldaccordingtoeggface.com -- I bet she has this on her site and might have more info. Either way, that web site is awesome and has many more recipes and stories. If you make this, let us know what size pan worked for you!!

the original is from a lady named Shelly who had RNY over 10 years ago. Her blog is called "the world according to eggface" - she has several variations of the ricotta bake on there now. Lots of good recipes and ideas for all stages post op - including a frequent posting called "a day in my pouch" - which she goes over everything she eats that day.

when I made it - i put it in a glass loaf pan but a small square casserole would work too - maybe 8x8?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
