Hello!

I'm new here and scheduled to have my surgery on October 10th.

My surgeon has me on a special diet of products sold through their office that add up to 800 calories a day, very high in Protein. But no vegetables. I was told they aren't allowed because they stay in the intestines a very long time and could still be in there at the time of surgery if incorporated them into my diet now.

I can't find any information that states it stays in there that long. Has anyone been told that before?

I want to do the right thing but I'm skeptical!

Thank you!

Although I am not sure why you have to be on something through thier office. Is your insurance paying for those products? Because they can give you a plan to follow and you get those items on your own.

Nope, insurance does not pay for these Meal Replacements. I have a call into them today because the only thing I can tolerate are the Protein bars. I've thrown up trying to eat this stuff they are calling meals! I feel duped by this office for not giving me alternative ideas for this diet because it seems like they want to make a buck off of me on top of paying for this out of pocket!

I don't want to be weak and starving by the time I have this surgery, so hopefully they will give me alternatives to those Meal Replacements.< /p>

Sandeeb- what are the Proteins you can eat?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
