Calling all former ballooners!

Recommended Posts

My time with the balloon is almost up. I'm curious how those of you who had the balloon are doing now.

How was the removal?

Were you happy with your overall results and experience?

How is life post-balloon?

How you lost, maintained or gained since then?

Now that you've concluded your time with the balloon, would you recommend it to others?

In general, do you have any advice for those of us who are approaching removal?

Your perspective would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi Wayward,

I had the balloon inserted in June and after ongoing low blood pressure issues my surgeon recommended removal last Thursday.

Overall satisfaction.... I am extremely satisfied with the resultant weight loss, having dropped 45kg in total (24kg in 12 weeks with the help of balloon).

There were quite a few negatives for me, purging being the worst however that's nothing when I look in the mirror.

Removal.... I went in at 10am and was wide awake with no pain, discomfort, no adverse effects at all. Even had poached egg on toast for lunch AND kept it down.

Post balloon... so far so good. The thing I notice most is my positive mental and physical health. I honestly feel good and feel like i found the 'old' me. I don't even mind looking in the mirror now. I love going to a shop and buying a garment off the rack knowing it will fit... unlike before when I was a size 22 and had to try each thing on due to sizing variations. Being a flat suze 14 is a blessing.

I am still fairly vigilant about what I eat and make sure I have minimal calories with naximum healthy options but so far post op has veen a breeze and I have maintained my weight.

Not only have i benefitted from looking better and feeling good, I am no longer on blood pressure medication, my diabetes and blood sugar levels are within the normal range and the GP is considering taking me off those meds in tge next few weeks, my cholesterol levels are normal and medication is no longer required. So although I suffered quite a bit with the balloon in some ways... you can see the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

Would I recommend this. ... 100% YES. My life has changed so much for the better. I have a far more positive attitude and the medical issues are gone.

I reached ALL goals set.

Remember.... if it's meant to be. .. it's up to me...

Goodluck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
