WEIGHT GAIN? 6 MONTH NUT VISITS.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gained weight during nutrition visits?

I think I effed up. I gained 10lbs between my consult with the surgeon and second nutrition visit.

I explained to her the very devastating loss of a family member... and also how I wanted to kinda .. "eat my last junk foods".

since then, I have lost 6lbs. I plan on being down even more when we meet again in 2 weeks.

Basically I'm terrified the insurance will deny me because of the 10lb gain- even though I lost it back and more.

Has anyone been through this or heard of this? What happened? thanks!

RIGHT. just nervous that when the paperwork is submitted... they see that I gained in the beginning? idk maybe its not that big of a deal. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gained in the beginning then lost it all plus more. I just keep hearing my surgeon say YOU DONT HAAAAAVE TO LOSE. BUT JUST DONT GAINNN.

Insurance will not know until all the paper work is submitted. Just get back on track.

Good luck and thanks!

Oh damn I see. Well what about having your doctor hold off a month from submitting it. That will give you time to lose the weight you gained. Once back down to your normal weight, then he could submit the paperwork. Just thinking out-of-the-box.

Good luck and thanks!

My surgeon would deny me if I gained more than 5 by the end of the 6 months. My insurance didn't have that clause.

I too seesawed during my 7 months but ended up losing just 8lbs by the end.

Worst case you may have to do another month weigh in so 7 instead of 6. this really depends on your insurance not the surgeon, do you have a written copy of what they require. Some companies just want you to weigh less than the initial weigh in , some want NO GAIN AT ALL. you would need to get that information so you wont be blindsided at the end . Good luck

just to add i did the whole say good bye to junk food thing way before my first visit cause my insurance company does not allow any gain at all, and i refused to be denied over weight that is the only part of this process thats totally in your control. use this time to show restraint when bad things happen find a new outlet , it will help after when you cant stuff yourself to feel better

I jumped 8 lbs after the first visit, bc I did not know it counted as the first visit. I was actually told it was not counted toward my 3 month program... Lost 12 the next month. Did not hinder approval at all.

Depends on your insurance. Aetna says "no net gain" so I'd check with insurance.

Mine told me the same thing. My body heard that and rebelled!

Mine would deny if 1lb was gained at any time during the 6 months supervised weight loss.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
