Internal plumbing fear

Recommended Posts

Duodenal Switch patients, did anyone else have this continues fear that they were going to pull apart their new plumbing when using the bathroom, pushing out a toot, or even stretching? I can not stop thinking Ive pulled something loose.

If you're passing gas or stretching; don't worry. If you're pushing too hard when you go to the bathroom, then try a stool softener.

Your insides will be OK.

Many individuals after surgery suffer from severe Constipation. It is important to make sure you meet your daily Fluid requirements because dehydration can lead to constipation. Sometimes you can get so bound up that stool softeners just will not work. In that case, I used a glycerin suppository that I inserted up my rear end. This will generally unbind you and then you can try and seek some relief using stool softeners. The following are some past recommendations posted on this website for constipation:

Apples with the skin

Smooth Move Herbal Tea

Prune juice (warmed)

Prunes (4 in the morning and 4 at night)

Magnesium citrate

Insoluble fibers (Garden of Life Raw Fiber or Renew Life Triple Fiber).

Haribo sugar free Gummy Bears (but beware - too many will give you the runs)

Aerobic Magnesium 07

Ground Flax Seeds (but don’t try to grind it yourself). Use 2 tablespoons per glass of Water every night before going to bed.

Low Fat Bran Muffin (recipe). 80 calories each

1 cup flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon cinnamon

2 cups bran Cereal

1 ¼ cups milk

1 egg

½ tablespoon applesauce

optional: banana, berries, mini chocolate chips

Bake 400° F for 22 minutes

Thank you, Im not constipated and my Water and Protein intake is on track. I just have this continues fear of messing my insides up if I do anything other then sit still. Mental I know just mind is crazy right now and when I do try to push out a gas bubble or bm I think I might break something.

The same thought cross my mind but it didn't happen but if you ever get seriously bound up, then you need to deal with it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
