Hello everyone my name is Jason and on Monday 8/22/16 I am getting my Gastric Sleeve

Right now I'm on my pre op diet which consists of Protein Shakes and chicken and vegetables mostly

I am scared to death cause I have never had surgery before

Some things I'm curious on, what are your guys meal plans per day, what do you eat? Just trying to get ideas for when I start eating solid food again

Also how does everyone deal with going out to dinner?

Hi. I'm an August 22 too! Don't stress - you are going to be fine. I always get a little nervous during the waiting/prep for surgery - for me that's the worst part - so I just tell the anesthesiologist and they make all the worries go away lol

Im pretty sure that once we are back on solid food there is pretty much always something for us to eat as long as we have our Protein. I did south beach for like three years and my feeling is that it is probably similar except with much smaller potions.

So when you plan your meals - or when you are out - just focus on Protein first and enjoy the conversation and time out with people!

We are going to be fine.... Good luck!

You've already done the hard part.

You've recognized your obesity, you've taken responsibility for it, jumped through more hoops than you probably care to think about and are now coming to the end of the prep and about to enter, "the rest of your life".

Hopefully you've ready everything there is to read. Watched all of the videos you could--gone to all of the seminars, support group meetings and pre-op classes.

Now, until your surgery date:

Be kind to yourself

Take a deep breathe

Relax as much as possible

Stop listening to surgery "horror" stories

Only let positive vibes into your head

Rely on your research

Don't overthink the surgery

"Let it go"

Everything from here until you wake up after your surgery is pretty much on auto pilot now. You have chosen a team of highly skilled professionals to guide you through to the other side of your WLS. Allow them to do just that.

One step at a time. You will have a wonderfully joyful and successful WL journey, one step at a time.

Afraid of "bump in the road"? Well, my friend, that's what WE are here for. :)

Our hospital offers support groups free of charge. Look for one of those and continue with your nutrition appointments for help. I plan on continuing for a couple of months with that at least. Hoping for a November sleeve! Best wishes for Monday! So jealous! ????

I am Monday too. I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago. The worst part for me was coming out of anesthesia. Evidently there can be a lot of air still in your body. But it didn't last that long and recovery was pretty quick. Hoping for a good experience this time as well. Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
