Day 5 without food...

Recommended Posts

I vomit nearly everything. Even just a sip of Water will come up in seconds. Going on day 5 of this. Nurse says it's because I tried to eat solid food too early, even though surgeon said it was ok to move forward. Nearing the 1 month post-op point...few days. I average 2 episodes of vomiting per day since surgery. Blood has started to come up. Nurse didn't seem worried about that. This is " normal"?

Call and demand to be seen or find another Dr and demand to be seen.

The nurse is right . Also try to eat incredibly slowly don't gulp it down . Try not to let yourself get really hungry by having lots of small meals throughout the day ...

If you can't keep Water down you will be dehydrated or are already dehydrated, if you are dehydrated, then you will have an even harder time eating or keeping anything down.

If your Dr won't see you go to the ER, TODAY. You can't go 5 days without hydration and nutrition and no one should be throwing up blood.

@@mohairbears They are throwing up blood and you are talking about eat slow? Are you serious? This is a serious situation.

I would not bother speaking to the RN again - go to the ER as @@OutsideMatchInside stated. This is a serious issue and you need medical care. Keep us posted.

I agree that you should demand to see your surgeon today, and if that doesn't work, then go to the ER. It is definitely not normal to not be able to keep anything down, and you are most likely already dehydrated. From what you've said, you might have a stricture (scar tissue that is narrowing your stomach so that only tiny amounts of food.liquid can pass through.)

It is NOT normal to vomit blood or to be vomiting almost everything! I'd go to the ER....and I'm a nurse.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
