The surgery came with a huge lifestyle change. Im 21 years young so... i did a lot of partying and drinking (wasn't a alcoholic tho). Prior to drinking i ate to prepare for the turn up lol and after drinking more eating.... followed by sleeping. When you don't work out or live an active lifestyle... thats a BAD mixture and i know thats where all my weight came from. Now that thats over with i picked up other hobbies. Now that my pockets are heavier because i don't spend most of my money on alcohol and fast food i picked up a sneaker addiction lol been buying at least 1-2 pairs a week since surgery. And i also picked up gaming (PS4) . If I'm not at work I'm either at the gym getting my daily 2.5 mile walk in or I'm at home playing video games and lifting weights. Lost a lot of friends since the lifestyle change but hey thats life right?? I'm happy and content with the new lifestyle change and loving the person I'm becoming.... After surgery whats the biggest thing that changed for you???

@@CarlAllen_95, fantastic new hobby. I'm also spending so much more time exercising -- because I finally can. My family is very active and being able to keep up with them is a joy. I'm sad that you've lost some of your social circle but you will develop a new one. One side effect of wls that I didn't know about was the social aspect. My good friends are still there of course, but there is a category of people who seem uncomfortable with me now that I've lost weight and another category of people who now want to hang out when they didn't before. People are pretty complicated sometimes. So glad that you are doing well and putting those new kicks to good use.

After my surgery May 4 2016. My eating habits changed of course.lol.but after about 30 pounds down I noticed my knees felt better. So I walk 2+ miles 6 days a week.I started Water aerobics 3 days a week also.........decided to enroll in school, grown my natural nails and hair. I also am a vegan now!!!!!I don't like the taste of meat now... Man this chic loved chicken okkkkk????????...,.I drink two Protein shakes and dinner......for some odd reason I get down plenty of fluids. But a few teaspoons of solids. I don't like the full feeling...... My doctor said that's a plus tho.....I'm rarely hungry... I think its the Proteins and water.... I never dump.....so my journey is a plus. Definitely everything has changed.....Thanking God for the strength to endure.....

Carl, now that you have more money in your pockets, have you saved money for an education? Any plans to go to college and get a degree? Or learn a good trade, or 'coding' so you'll be set for life after a while? To save for an eventual marriage, wife, family, home ownership? Buy some stocks so that money grows?

Glad you're basically happier, but I suggest you add to your happiness by broadening your aspirations. Sneakers won't serve you any good, or any purpose in the scheme of things, nor bring any true value to your life.

Think about it: You've got a stack of sneakers; okay; and they do ...what? Seriously, my brother... Look at the pile. What do they do for you? And as the pile of them grows, then what? What 'cha got?

Go deeper. Soar higher. Enjoy your new health!! [[congrats!], but envision, and engage for, even greater happiness. You can do it.

@@casenior I didn't assume. Reread my post: I asked. My post is full of questions to him. PLUS, all he mentioned was his purchasing of sneakers; I asked...and what else?

I'm going to agree! Such questions/assumptions go way beyond the scope of WLS support and come off as quite judgmental, whether that was the intent or not.

Congratulations! I love your post.

For me, it is the opportunity to do more things.

I have been on disability due to my obesity so now that I am regaining my mobility, I am no longer completely housebound and trapped. I can also sit behind a computer again, although I try to limit the time I am completely sedentary.

I swim, I take classes, I take photographs, I write, I am starting to take road trips and travel, I am becoming more engaged in my community, and I am starting to job hunt in order to return to the workforce.

I think it is awesome that you have chosen health over drinking and partying.

I do agree with the poster who mentioned education though.

You are at a perfect time in your life to dream big. Actually, we are all at a perfect time in our lives to dream big!

Have you thought about what excites you? About your passion?

Maybe it is exercise-related? Maybe you have the talent to design athletic shoes? Program video games? The sky is the limit!

You have an awesome future in front of you.

@carlallen_95. Congrats on your new lifestyle! Dumping the party/drinking lifestyle is not an easy feat at your age. Glad you have been able to push through with something that's good for your health and future.

I'm all for dreaming big, setting goals and working towards those goals, for sure. That said, the OP is riding the high of a successful WLS. Who's to assume he's not pursuing a passion, whether it be educationally or vocationally?

All those shoes? He's got to be earning his way somehow. ;)

Thats already in motion, my education is mandatory, i don't consider it a hobby which is why i didn't mention it. I'm not here to prove how smart i am. I'm talking about simple life changes not education. The party lifestyle i once live was in College. But didn't stop me from getting my education.

There were plenty of contextual clues in the OP's post.

Lol I'm slowly learning that this just isn't the place to express your sleeve experience sometimes. You got people that will be quick to judge you by your post and assume.. but i will forever be thankful for the people that give good advice and motivate me with encouraging words instead of trying to make you look dumb and uneducated when they know nothing about you. I see it way too often.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
