Anyone sleevers in the Portland OR area?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I live in Hillsboro which is part of the Portland Metro area. I'm just beginning this journey and hope to have my surgery scheduled in October. I have all the prerequisites done and am just waiting on my insurance letter of approval. Wondering if there was anyone out there from my area. :)

I'm in Oregon as well, southern coast. I would be having my sleeve done end of August or first of September. Good luck!!

I don't of any support groups yet, but will soon. This surgery procedure and whole process was so fast. From when I did the online seminar and to being out of surgery. It has been a total process of 3 months. My head is still spinning, but I am doing very well, thank you. I had my surgery done at OHSU, by Dr. Mattar. He's a kind and gentle man who took very good care of me and I had a beautiful surgery with no complications. The hospital bed issue is a different story, but I am optimistic as I just wanted to make it out alive. (I have weird thoughts of not making through) Where are you having yours done at? I am having many many thoughts now, but all are mostly good.

Hello! I am in Tualatin. It would be nice to meet up with other Sleevers and we can order one meal and still have to ask for a to go box! LOL! My surgery was on May 9th and I should have done this years ago for myself. I only used 3 pain pills and went right on to children's Tylenol and ibuprofen. The only problem I really had was feeling thirsty for the first month and a half. The problem I have now is shrinking out of my clothes. Well, it's my husband's problem, because I get to keep on buying new clothes!!! My summer clothes are able to go to a new home. If anyone would like to meet let me know and we can set something up. Pre surgery people, good luck and hope to meet up with you, too.

Hi all! This is my first post to a thread, I can't tell how old this thread is but today is 10/18/16 and I'm 13 days post op. My physical address is Portland, but I'm basically on the Hillsboro/Beaverton boundary. Just wanted to introduce myself! I have a WLS instagram you can follow at that's the same name as my name name on here. Does anyone else have a WLS IG account I can follow? Or know of any support groups locally?

Hi all! Sorry for jumping on kind of an old thread, but I was searching for "Oregon weight loss surgery" and this came up (thankfully!).

I sent my new patient app in on 11/1 and they (OWLS) say to allow 2-6 wks for insurance verification and tmrw will be 4 wks and I haven't heard back. I'm practically dying of impatience! I know I'm covered, because I checked myself before even seeing my primary doc for the referral.

Does anyone else have experiences with OWLS they can share? How long from when you sent in your paperwork until you were seen?

Thanks!!

Hi! I've been going to OWLS since July. They are awesome. I have a particularly picky insurance company and they took about 4 weeks to get back to them. My process is slower than most because at first my insurance said I didn't have to have the 6 mo. Weight management and then when I sent in for final approval they said I did. I have 2 months down and 4 to go. Basically had to start from scratch. BUT it will be worth the wait in the end.

Good luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
