Looking good for an August Sleeve date - pro-op meeting next week. It's crazy, but two things have been running through my head this week. (1) what if this is just like every other diet and I'm the "one" that still can't lose weight and (2) What if I lose too much weight and can't slow it down!

Totally opposite fears! Lol, I'm sure it will all be fine, just wondering if anyone else had the same and what you discovered in the months and years after surgery?

Hi! I've definitely had those fears as well, I'm still waiting on a date and an approval! But I definitely think that all the time because I'm one of the people who eats when they're bored! We will do awesome, I promise!

I have a little different fear...I am not afraid of surgery and I am going to give this all I've got but I have Atrial Fibrillation Cardiologist has cleared me but still a little worried about the heart aspect.

You'll do great...Just work hard!

Hopefully this eases your fears a bit, but it's said that people who have WLS reduces the AFib!

Thank you for the heart info - I have a small PFO (hole in my heart from birth. About 30 years ago it may have caused a small TIA (small stroke). Have had a few minor issues over the last few years with SVT (rapid heartbeat I can't stop on my own - or occasionally can via a vega response) but only happens once every few months and is a minor inconvenience. Getting clearance (hopefully) from cardiologist in a couple weeks, but I figure worst case scenario, they'll just require an ablation to close the hole first.

I'm so sorry about your support system. It does produce a lot of fears from our families, whether that be fear of being left behind, fear of you dying or whatever, but I think ultimately they will be happy because we will most likely be happier with ourselves. My family had some fears initially (mostly my daughter), but once they realized it was a pretty safe procedure, they got on board. Will say a prayer for you that your support system will come through in the end with flying colors! :)

I think I have some of the same ... Mine is usually when I want to procrastinate something difficult I have to do, I replace that with grazing. My hopes are that I will be forced through my sleeve to step away from the pain that it will cause if I don't behave!

I have seen a few people have trouble stopping their weight loss - but usually they started out low and didn't have much to lose.

That's what I have read as well ... I have a starting BMI of 31.5, and although the I am not huge, I am very uncomfortable in my own skin. I've become somewhat of a recluse (outside of going to work everyday). I don't enjoy being around people anymore and just feel uncomfortable in anything but yoga pants and tshirts. I can't imagine ever getting too thin as I have always been overweight or plump. But, I guess just one of those "fears" that creeps in as we get comfortable with this decision.

@@NewAdventure2016 That's a pretty low BMI. You'll have to be very careful not to go to far in the other direction. Be sure to speak to a Bariatric Nutritionist to get a plan that will allow for enough good quality calories so you don't lose too much. I would encourage therapy too - as your body may change after surgery - your mind won't and you may need to address your emotions. Best of luck!

I will definitely do that ... I'm roughly just under 200 and 5'6" so actually slightly higher (32.3), but still in the lower spectrum. That is one of my fears that I will lose too much. I'm about to turn 53, and a little weight on the face is not a bad thing (stretches out the wrinkles! Lol!)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
