Hi everyone, my surgery date is July 20th and so I'm on the pre-op liquid diet and literally starving. It's awful! I want to cheat so badly. Would cheating one time screw up my liver shrinking? I'm so hungry.

You can eat as many popsicles as you like.

Rather than "cheating", why not have what you are allowed.

Are you allowed sugar free Popsicles? Crystal light? An extra Protein shake?

What are your guidelines?

So the point is you are going to lose weight with this diet and you will shrink your liver. You really need to stay strong and stick to it, the surgeon can cancel the surgery if he feels you didnt stick to the guidelines. Its for your safety anyways, to make sure your liver doesnt get damaged by being in the way! I wish you luck. Wait how long is your preop diet for??

Michilingi congrats on your date! I'm not really gonna cheat. Last night I was just in a bad state. Today was easier. I was even able to exercise. My guidelines were really brief. Basically 3 carnation shakes, sugar free Jello (I'm eating vegan Jello because I couldn't do hoofs), 1 low sugar yogurt or sugar free pudding a day, broth once a day ( I'm having homemade veggie broth because I'm a vegetarian), Water, crystal light, 1 serving of fruit, sugar free Popsicles. It didn't say you couldn't have them but I saw online most people's diets said you can have sugar free fudgicles so last night I got those and feel better. I can't take anymore fruity taste. I know I can do this and it will be worth it not wow were the first two days hard.

Do you have a similar pre-op diet?

Yes I do have a similar pre op.

I can have 2 serving of a Protein [3oz chicken, low fat yogurt, wtc)

2 servings of vegtables (1 cup cook3d or 2 cups raw)

Plenty of fluids/broth/etc

Also 3-4 Protein Shakes that are 5grams of carbs or fewer.

I wonder why they limit your brother intake. I hate protein shakes so my nut and I decided I can mix the unflavored protein with broth. I can have the sugar free pops or drinks but I hate the aftertaste. So I'm just going to do my hint Water.< /p>

Oh how I wish I could have pudding and fruit!! Stay strong! It's tough, I am on day 9 of preop liquid diet with 5 days until surgery. I have 4 1/2 Protein shakes a day, 2 sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, and broth at times (but I haven't been hungry so much). I see food and I get hungry but I want solid food! Then again, I am almost there!! So hang in there!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
