Hi- had my GS on June 2. Now that I have moved to regular food, I am vomiting afterwards. Any suggestions, recommendations, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

According to my NUT - as you start transitioning to solids it's common to have lots of nausea and for foods to simply not sit right and cause you to get sick. She recommended trying only one new food each day because if you try more than one new thing and get sick then you won't know which one made you sick. I dunno if this tip would help either of you but it's been helpful to me :)

eat very slowly and when you are about half way through the portion give it a bit of a rest to make sure you are not full.

have you tried yogurt? That set pretty well for me. I hope it works itself out for you soon. I would get sick when i over ate - and overate sometimes was a 4 tablespoons instead of 3.

hang in there!

My surgery was June 1st. I have not thrown up since transitioning to solid foods but I have come close. I feel like every day I get to know my sleeve better. Somethings go down easy -- others dont. Fish is the easiest -- I never feel nauseous after fish -- crab, salmon, tuna, lobster, scallops -- I can never eat more than 2 oz. but all are easy. chicken is the most difficult. I have not tried beef yet -- but I love it. ground turkey is easy also. If I eat more than 2 oz -- I feel sick......

Thanks you for your replies, I will try all these suggestions. I think that part of my problem sounds like I am over eating and not going slow enough. I will try the one food a day. Of course I want to be successful at this, and it worried me that I am throwing up everything I eat.

Thanks again.

Yes if you don't have a food scale get you one and weigh 2oz of whatever meat you're having.......and eat very slowly. There are times I can't eat all of the 2oz. I had my surgery on 5/16 and the only time I've thrown up is when I took one bite too much.

Good luck to you both......There's a big learning curve for sure.

I had surgery on June 7 and haven't felt like throwing up once. My doc did prescribe anti-nausea meds so it must be common though.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
