When I eat I get to a point where i can't eat anymore but my belly still feels hungry. I also get the hungry horrors at night. Anyone else have this? 6 weeks post op.

Are you taking anything for acid? Your nerves are not reconnected for you to be physically hungry right after surgery.

What pills are you taking?

Some people say they don't get hungry anymore. I certainly still get hungry, but it's like before, not worse. Have you counted calories? Are you minimizing carbs?

You could try and switch to another PPI. Some work better than others for different people. When you have your "hunger" pains try taking Rolaids or maaloxx to see if that helps. Also, are you getting plenty of Water? Thirst can feel like hunger. 64oz is minimum, but if you are in a warm climate, 100oz would be a better goal.

How many calories are you getting in? How much Protein? Fat? Carbs? In general, If you aren't getting dizzy or light headed or nauseous and you have plenty of energy and feel good, then you are probably getting enough nutrition. Don't let your stomach dictate how much you eat cause it's just been cut open from top to bottom and isn't nearly healed yet, so the signals it is sending cannot be trusted.

Not really counting calories since I'm not getting much. I do get light headed sometimes when I stand up. Getting about 70 to 90 protien a day. Almost bo carbs.

It's likely acid. My PPI isn't doing enough, so last night I took a Tums (doc approved) and that hungry feeling went right away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
