Have anyone just could not loose weight on the pre op liquid diet? If so, why?

Recommended Posts

For some odd reason I just cannot loose weight on this pre op liquid diet. If I do not loose the weight they are going to reschedule my surgery or possibly cancel it. I take antidepressants. I have no idea if that could be the problem. Can someone help?

My pre op liquid diet consist of: crystal light, Water, sugar free Jello and opti fast shakes. I have plans on reaching out to my bariatric team on Monday. I also plan to continue on the pre op, I wish they could just ignore the weight problem and continue with the surgery.

Well it sounds like your liquid diet is pretty standard with other liquid diet protocols. It is good that you will be talking to your nutritionist and maybe they will have further insight for you. I do not have real advice or experience to pull from to give you but I can offer support and best wishes to you on your journey.

How much fluids are you getting? How long are you on it and when did you start? How much do you have to lose. Whatever you do - don't come off meds - it's important to stay on them.

@@PRINCESS2218 You're not alone. Although my pre-op diet allows for 3 shakes, 1 cup veggies and a Lean Cuisine type meal, I have not dropped more than a couple of pounds. I called my bariatric center and spoke with a dietitian and she encouraged me to use a laxative (which that is definitely an issue on this diet) but insisted that I not reduce my intake. Aside from the things mentioned above, I am drinking Vitamin Water Zero, Propel, Herbal Caffeine Free tea, and regular Water. scale hates me. <_<

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
