Good luck to everyone. I was sleeved 7/1 at Beaumont Royal Oak. Dr. Krause. No complications... very pleased so far.

Dr. Krause is a very nice Dr. He's been doing this for quite some time and he is currently the Chief of Surgery I believe. I don't care for his NP at ALL!!!!! Quite the contrast. Anyways he has great bedside manners he sits down and thoroughly explains things so you are well prepared. He's so thorough-- you may not have any question that doesn't go unanswered before he's done. Meaning you will sit there like man I don't have any questions at all he answered them all without me having to ask!! LOL. He's awesome. My mother liked him so well (she went to my consultation and was there with me on the day of surgery). She started her program and is hoping to get sleeved in Jan.

As far as my surgery date... Once I was cleared my Medical, and Psychology-- It was a wrap! His office staff is phenomenal and very organized. They submit all of your stuff to the insurance company and as soon as they get the approval letter from them they will contact you to schedule a date if you're ready. I wanted to get my surgery around Easter or my kids spring break but I wasn't cleared yet however his nurse went over his availability with me for the next couple months so I could get an idea of what I would be able to do.

Hello!

I'm still working my way through the process...... I'll be having my surgery at Henry Ford Hospital with Dr. Carlin. I've completed my blood work, psych evaluation, lost the weight to meet surgeon's goal, met with my surgeon, surgical clearance testing done. I already have the insurance approval. I only need at this point to meet with the GI doctor and get an EGD done. My surgeon said I didn't need to meet with him again before surgery and that I could see one of the nurses to go over everything because I'm on track with everything else. So..... Just waiting.

It was great! I really liked him. Very easy to talk to. The 31st was my original appointment with Dr. Carlin but there was a cancellation and since I was done with the pre req stuff they asked if I wanted it. My friend and coworker had Dr. Genaw years ago. She said he was awesome! Funny and so down to earth. Did you write your letter of intent? How about your food journal? I have an appointment with the GI Dr. on the 30th. I hope I can get the EGD done soon. I feel like that's what's slowing me down.

For the food journal, i think it will be ok? I was asked about how often I exercise, how much Protein I have in a day, calories, and Water. Have your journal ready just in case. My letter wasn't that long. Only a page. I gave reasons why I wanted the surgery, that I understand the risks, who my support system was, how I plan on using the tool to achieve my goals, etc.

Today I had my appointment with the GI doctor. My Upper GI is scheduled for 9/23. More waiting. Yay! Lol. Good luck tomorrow! I look forward to hearing about it!

Hello, everybody. :) I'm in Ypsilanti. If I get approved for sleeve surgery, I will be working with Dr. Hawasli of St. Clair Shores. I realize that's quite a hike, but I have some medical issues that Dr. H. is willing to work with, and some other doctors aren't.

It's great to meet you all!

@even11--About how many weeks/months out does Dr. Hawasli schedule for? A fair number of people here seem to be working with him, so he must be quite busy. Just curious.
