Just a question for anyone who is post op, how long should I stay off work? I've saved up 2 weeks of leave and I work in an office (government). Do you think this is a good amount of time to heal and get through the fatigue I've heard of?

I went back to an office job after two weeks. I was fine, although still tired. I know others who have taken more time, and still others who have taken less. Unless you have complications, you should be able to go back after two weeks.

You may want to explore your options on FMLA or short-term disability just in case you do have complications -- just so you know what options you have.

2 weeks seems good. You might be really tired at the end of the day, so if you have a long commute home, that might be rough.

I took the first week off. Then week 2 I would sleep in & then go into the office after noon. This was great. I needed the sleep but also got some work done. I was bored out of my mind at home. Good luck!!

My surgeon told me that 2 weeks is pretty much the norm, but because I am a nurse he took me off for 3. I'm still not sure it shouldn't have been longer but I made it through.

I'm a special Ed preschool teacher who works in a public school so I work a 7.5 hour day and took one week off. The second week my first we back to school I was pretty tired when I got home from work so my husband was in charge of feeding the kids and getting them to bed at night. Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks post surgery and this week I have had much more energy than last week.

Good Luck!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
