My surgeon says no protein supplements until week 5. Does this sound right to you?

I'm 4 days post op and my surgeon requires I do a 2 week clear liquid diet, 2 week full liquid diet and then add Protein supplements at week five. This just does not sound right to me. What did your NUT require? Thanks.

Kristenle, no there was not a communication barrier. She responded to my email stating The reason why I'm not supposed to drink Protein until week five and this is what she said:

it is to prevent leakage because of the consistency of protein.

Friend,

How soon can you get your ENTIRE file from Mexico?

This is my suggestion.

Please post and let us know how you are doing ---and where! :)

Prayers going up for you.

sorry, duplicate post.

I actually have my surgery file. And I found a place where I can go in the states. I'm going to support group tomorrow with them. I actually started drinking protein today at the advice of the new nutritionist. I had to do what was best for me.

Yes, sometimes we do.

Be well, Friend.

Post often.

Prayers going up.

I have been on here 2 1/2 years and have never heard of this approach. My own surgeon developed the bariatric program for the Cleveland Clinic and is now the head of the bariatric clinic at Loyola University Medical Center where I got sleeved. He teaches gastro-intestinal, bariatric and robotic surgery. He had me on 60 grams of Protein from day one.

Wow! That's impressive. Thank you for your post!!

If you can't drink protein shakes your going to feel very weak. I was sleeved on the 23rd of March and to this day if I forget my 30 grams of protein in the morning I end the day feeling very weak and tired.
