Gained weight just 3 weeks after surgery? How!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I am posting today because my scale says that I have gained 3 pounds, I do not understand how this is possible when I am not even eating as much as I am goaled to eat yet. I am having difficulty eating and drinking enough because I am just simply full, as well as I am very busy at work and I forget(because I am not hungry) How can a person gain weight when they are not even consuming 500 calories a day? I am so frustrated with this right now. I lost a lot to start with(20 pounds the first week home from the hospital) and was very surprised with that. Now I am hoping that this is just my body trying adjust, but I hate to see the scale go up as I know we all do.

Your body is going through a huge change! A gain here and there is nothing to worry about. In fact, I find it better to take measurements every week. It could be retaining of Water. There are also scales out there that only measure your body fat and not anything else. So if it is Water gain, you wouldn't see that reflected on the scale.

It is common to stall at 3 weeks. The gain is only Water. If you are not meeting your Protein and fluids goals - this will happen.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
