When does the discomfort stop after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hey all! I had sleeve surgery done on May 27th and I still have so much discomfort. It hurts if I move a certain way, when I walk, sitting up straight for too long. I am just in general discomfort ALL the time. I would say my pain level is like a 3-5

Has anyone else had this problem 2 weeks out? When does it stop??? I'm so ready to feel okay again :(

Thanks!

Alyssa

I had little to no pain. A lot of it depends on how big you were and how healthy you were going into surgery. For me, it just felt like I was punched in the stomach or did a lot of crunches, so not that bad. The only painful part was when they took out the drain but that only lasted a few seconds.

I had serious pain afterward, sleeves on 5/26, come to find out it was a strained back muscle likely from the position I was in on the OR table. I had a light back adjustment yesterday at the chiropractor's office and I feel like a new woman. I hope you feel better soon!!

Sorry to hear you are still in pain.

I had surgery on 5/17 and took pain med every for hours for the next 3 days. On day 4 & 5 I only took one at bedtime. During week 2 only random pain. I would be calling my surgeon's office if I were still in pain.

Hope it gets better soon!

I was also sleeved May 27th and I had a follow up with my surgeon today and I have the same exact discomfort in my left side of my abdomen. Doc said it could take about a month to FULLY go away. It was gone yesterday but then I picked up my 5 year old daughter and I'm back to soreness today. It feels as if I ran a marathon, the runners cramp in my side. Other than that no pain. I'm going back to work tomorrow.

I had the sleeve done on April 11, 2015 and had little to no pain. I took the pain medicines to sleep so I would not think about food. I am 8 weeks post-op now and have some discomfort eating some foods, however am doing quite well. I am losing weight nicely, about 45 lbs down.

Hey I was sleeved on May 26. For about 5 days it hurt to walk, mostly from my largest incision where the stomach was removed. My back had some pain in it too (upper) but I attribute that to being from the way I would hold my body up due to the discomfort. I didnt take anything more than a tylenol. After 5 days or so I feel like I never had surgery :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
